Looks good Bob!Does Lake Logan fish well in the summer?
-
Had a wonderful time once again. I felt like I kinda wimped out most of Saturday between the cold wind and drizzle. It just felt more comfortable in my bivvy with the heat, when needed.
I look forward to the next event at Alum!

Great write-up Bob! Scott and I fished just past that 90 degree bend in the bank there in one of your pictures. It's definitely a great place to haul on some carp and buffalo. Hopefully I can get back there again sometime, maybe in the late fall or early spring.

Here are a couple overhead views of the venue.

Just so everyone is aware... The "Big Fish" were caught at East Harbor. The Big 4 wasn't going on at the time, but started at our last fish-in, West Branch.
Good luck to everyone!

Another excellent weekend with a bunch of great people! Thanks to everyone who made it out and to those who supplied lunch, Bill and Shawn. Glad I got to meet you at Alum Phill and point you in the direction of the club. It's been a pleasure you fish with you over the past couple of years. Thanks for all the baits!
Look forward to seeing everyone at the next one I can attend.
Here are a few photos:

Noon is probably when I'll be showing up as well. Realized I have a decent amount of work I need to get done beforehand so I might be up kinda late Thursday night getting everything ready. See everyone there!

I'll be there sometime Friday morning. Anyone camping at the state park? I was looking for a place to stay but I wasn't sure where since we can't camp on the bank. I was thinking maybe Ill just park in the lot and then walk a few hundred feet into the woods and set up my bivvy if need be.

Hey Janderson, it's Vince from OGF. There is a ton of information on this site and a lot of people here that can help out. Poke around a bit and I'm sure you will get a basic understanding of what needs to be done. Good luck!

Double surgeon's knot for joining two lines? Or blood knot?
Philaroman, what is the problem with the improved clinch knot with braid? Curious.
I was going to add a link for PowerPro braid knots but couldn't get it to work.
Try the double uni for joining two lines. I've had my 30lb mono shock leader tied to 20lb braid mainline for probably 3 years now and still haven't changed anything out and the knot is still strong.
EDIT: I should note that this is on my spod set up

I use 3-4 knots for the most part in all my fishing applications
- Knotless Knot (tying a hair rig)
- Palomar (attaching lines to swivels)
- Improved Clinch (when the Palomar isn't an option)
- Double Uni (when joining two lines)

Great fish and huge congrats! That's a Bigmouth Buff right?

Had a lot of fun Bob! Look forward to representing Ohio next year.
-
Thanks for putting it on Andy and congrats to the winners, Michigan!
Ohio will be back next year!
-
Now I'm really pumped about this event!

Nice going Rick and all those that join. I saw some pictures on the OGF Forum and it looks like everything had a good time, even the kids!
-
Looks good! I hope to wear one of those around my neck at the end of the year!

Well done guys! Don't waste all your good luck before Saginaw

Had a great time as always at East Harbor. The weather cooperated for once in the 5 or so years that I have attended and a lot of fish were caught.
A big thanks to Bob for putting the event on, Larry for all the food he provided, and a big thanks to everyone that came out!
See everyone in Saginaw!

Thanks to everyone that voted and a big thanks to Dave at BCT!

I'm thinking cheesy potatoes.

I'll try to think of a hot side dish I can bring. I would do potato salad or coleslaw, but I would imagine temps are going to be in the mid to high 40's. Hot food always hits the spot on a cold, windy day up at East Harbor.

Ice gone is one thing, but will the water be warm enough?!? We can only hope!
-
As most people have said, panko is a good start. I wouldn't worry too much about boilies at this point in your "carping career." Use sweet corn on the hair and I think you'll have some luck. When the water warms up and we get together, I'll share as much knowledge as I have to help you along.

I'm in!
Thanks for putting it on again this year. Really enjoyed myself last year and learned a lot with it being my first fishing competition. I will come prepared next year to help Ohio take home the trophy!
