Caught this beauty a couple weeks ago. Weighed in at 13lbs 12oz and even struck a pose for the camera. Fins up!

Awesome Bob!

Good stuff Bob. East Harbor is going to be very interesting this year. I like that we have a back up in case things take a turn for the worse. It's one of those places that will surprise you every year.
-
Good to see everyone yesterday. Look forward to April when we finally get on the bank together. Thanks for putting it together Bob and thanks to everyone that came.

Haven't had any issues.
You may have spyware/malware. Try downloading Malwarebytes and run a scan. See where that gets you. https://www.malwarebytes.org/
On the topic of "bad pop ups."
ON THE PUFF! GUS. (Sorry I had to)

I've got a couple by Fox that I'll bring for you to look at.
Thanks Bob!

I'm looking for a couple of rods at 3.25 or 3.5 tc. I bought a pair of reels to put on my old rods and I'd like to have a backup pair of rods/reels for friends if I take them out.
If anyone has a pair they would like to part with feel free to offer them up. I'm looking around the 100 dollar range per rod. If I can't find anything in the near future I may just go with a pair of new Saxon rods.

Wow this is gonna be quite a turnout!
-
Very cool! Yea, that's me.
I think I have a Muskingum River video on my Youtube account as well.

Hey Newbie!
Central Ohio angler here. I've only tried Dillon once before but didn't have any luck. The location I was fishing had trees and branches sticking out of the water so I didn't stay around long since I knew I would probably lose every fish I had.
The Muskingum is a great place to catch hard fighting river Carp. I would start there if you're looking to hook up on some fish.
I would be more than willing to meet you out there someday to show you the ropes and teach you some techniques. I'm sure Bob would be willing as well.
Good to have you aboard Newbie!

Good to hear from you Rick. See you soon!
-
March 8th sounds good to me. Just let me know the place and I will be there.
-
I would be up for any of those places. The time really doesn't matter if it's on a Saturday, but if it's nice I might be out on the bank in the morning. So evening might be better.
-
That would be awesome Jetson. We know how finicky Cowan can be at times. Would be nice to get there and have the fish right in front of us already.
-
Do you think there would be any value in having a standard in the way the events are listed on the Calendar? Maybe something like "State - Location/Name of event." This could make it easier for people to find events that are in their state or neighboring states without having to go into the event description.
Ohio - Cowan Lake
Michigan - CAG Midwest Regional
Something like that

Looks good Bob! I will note, if we do decide on Leith Run booking starts on Feb. 3rd so get your site as soon as possible!
Here is a quote from my post when I went last August
Site 11 seems to be the best spot. Site 12 and 13 are also very good. Site 10 would be my next choice and then 15 and 19. (We stayed on 19 this time)
These 3 sites (11-13) have the least amount of weed growth in front of the bank.Even with the weed growth it didn't keep us from catching fish, it just made them tough to release.

Will support and make it to every event I can!
-
I can't speak to all of your questions, but from what I heard it was pretty tough fishing between the wind, high water, and debris. Switching between keeping your rod tips in the sky and keeping them low when the wind started to blow.
-
That's right, how could I forget about the regattas. Hmmmm well, We could always move Leith Run to August. It's pretty shady there.
-
Yea, Alum in the summer is hot! especially on the peninsula. Griggs wouldn't be a bad choice to replace it. At least there is shade there.

I use 16mm. Ill add that to the to do list for the future. But we all know paylakers thought of the bait bomb before the euros did.
LOL 16mm should do the trick as well. I have some pictures floating around here somewhere. I've posted them before so I'll just send you a link.
-
I frown down upon you. How dare you use anything euro. Your not a proper packer
I do recommend it though especially if you're using a 15mm boilie as your pickup. It fits right in the little hole the bait bomb creates.
-
Method feeders have their place.
now master packer I have a question for yea. Now you always pack your pack around your pickup. But if you use a 3oz lead or more the pack will fall apart on the cast.
now your fishing a river that needs at least 3oz. What do you do?
Hey wait a minute I think a method feeder would work FANTASTIC.
I use a 3oz lead and pack around the hookbait and have no issues when I fish the rivers. I cheat and use a gardner bait bomb.
-
Packbait/Method... whatever you want to call it. At the end of the day if you're catching fish and you are happy with your technique, more power to you.
I guess I would consider myself to use "packbait." Oats, cream corn, and flavoring packed around my pickup.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. The water I was fishing holds a lot of nice healthy mirrors as well as commons. It's always a surprise when they get close enough so you can see them. "It's a mirror!"
