  1. Feb would work for me.

As far as Leith Run... I think their reservation system opens on the 28th of November, so in a few days. I don't know how fast the sites book but if anyone plans on getting a riverfront spot they better reserve early.

  2. June could probably work although I'm not sure how the weeds are going to be during that time. It doesn't prevent you from fishing, it just makes it difficult to release them.

15 anglers might be a little tough. I would say 10 would be more appropriate.

I think East Harbor is always a great idea in April (if the winds don't cause issues)

I'm not sure about Alum Creek. A lot of fish can be caught but they typically run small and the overnight "camping" might be a problem. The peninsula is slowly wearing away and I feel like this year might be the year they finally fix it. Who knows when that will be.

  3. Used to fish the spill way with my brother every year. We would camp at Rocky Fork for a couple weeks at a time with our grandparents and go fishing just about every morning. It's pretty snaggy there from what I remember. I haven't fished the lake so I can't give any advice on that. Good luck!

10 dollars per tent per night to camp. You can park right next to where you fish (rain permitting). If it's raining you have to park in the lot but if it isn't or hasn't for awhile you can park right by the bank.

Great place to catch a lot of fish so bring enough bait and chum.

  5. Met Bob on the river Saturday. I managed 10 carp or so with the biggest being 20lbs 2oz. Left around 2pm after the sun started to get really hot.

  6. Nice fish! You guys in central Ohio bring back a lot of childhood memories. What is the green thingy in the bucket? Is it used to make those nice formed baits?

Pretty much. It's called a Gardner Bait Bomb. Just fill up the tube and compress. It makes a nice mold to put around your lead or hookbait.

  7. Woke up late this morning with no plans to fish. Did some laundry, piddled around for a little bit and got bored. The river has been up with all the rain we had this past week so it was out of the question. It was flowing about twice as fast as when I fished it the first time so I figured I wouldn't be able to hold bottom. I decided I would go try out Otterbein Pond since I hadn't fished it since the winter, but first I was going to check the flow of the Scioto. I was curious to see what it looked like.

I arrived around 2pm and got one rod out with a 2oz lead. Started casting short and then a little farther, littler farther, etc. Seemed to be holding bottom just fine. Got all the gear out of the car and got set up.

First fish came in at 18lbs 2 oz and took me way down river. Next fish was only about 4-5 pounds. Fish 3 and 4 were both 17 pounders. One was 17lbs 5oz and one was 17lbs 7oz.

Not bad for a "fast" flowing river.
