  1. There is nothing wrong with LBJ look how many big fish came out in just two 12hr sessions without it being baited up for a week. If ATC lasted few more days there would be many more high 30s and probably few 40s in the mix

Everybody forgets that in the early days when a lot of big fish came out there was a lot of anglers baiting up for weeks, motel bathtubs full of soaking corn and tons of range cubes and boilies. Of coarse fish got onto the bait and people were catching fine,

There isnt so much hype now for LBJ like it was and few locals baiting up here and there cant really make a big difference to get big carp to feed confidently and search for bait especially on a skinny long lake like LBJ with limited bank access

I remember that bathtub well... that room stank to high heaven! lol .... and Tal and Paul's room used to be set at around 120 degrees! lol

I agree with Alex though... you can't judge a place on 2 twelve hour sessions (and like he said, it didn't even do bad) ... I have fond memories of many day long sessions (and an over nighter) on LBL and hope to return there one day! :)

  2. somewhat of a tangent, but......

It is correct that very few bodies of water in the USA are privately controlled, but I would argue public utility companies and the US army corp of engineers have done WAY more to impact the trajectory of ecosystems and fish species throughout USA. Coast to coast, america is home to thousands (if not millions) of man-made impoundments as a result of dams. The extensive destruction which dams or water divergence projects have done to native fish environments is unbelievable. In addition, many of the bodies of water which are the context for arguements about native fish and habitat destruction - ARE COMPLETELY MAN MADE AND FAKE.

    Nail. Head. Hit!

  3. They also sell a float that attaches to the spreader block which assists greatly while one hand is occupado on the rod.

Some are so good the entire handle floats as well so all you gotta do is dip the front of the net, fish enters, and release and the net comes back up on its own ...

I fished w/ Kelticarper and that dude is insane. Ask him .. he fought two fish at the same time, netted both ... threw one in a keepsack and tied it to his boat and the other was kept in the net and the handle was fastened to the boat so the fish couldnt escape .. all this because he wanted his rods out asap so as not to miss the shoal of 30 lb + fish on his bait. He casted his rod out, was rebaiting the other and the rod rang off that quick ... he had a double boilie on his bait needle in his mouth, fighting a fish w/ two on ice... as the fish ran, he allowed it and cast his other rod out ... all done and said, this crazy bastid maxed out our nets and keepsacks with 4 fish ... fish that came in during this span under 30 he released immediately and cast back out in hopes of 30+ ... after the crazy 20 min action ... we released all the mid and upper 20's, and took nice pics of the brace of 30's ... it was insane watching. I dont know how he did it and I was there ... he managed it all while smiling too. Go figure. I guess you fish solo enough you can good at such things. I guess I gotta get out more.

    Crazy Irish bastid! lol

  4. Pat and I should be arriving anytime between Friday and Saturday - not decided yet! lol We're staying at the Riverview on Saturday night and if we arrive Friday we'll crash somewhere... a social on Friday sounds good, so maybe that'll kick us into gear to getting there for then. Phil and his son Stuart should be at the Riverview sometime on Thursday I think.

Look forward to seeing you all... it's going to be fun, if nothing else! :D

  5. DE Shark Fishing

Well, this sucks... I'm heading to my usual summer vacation at the beach in DE next week and found out that the shark fishing regs have changed.... I lost a couple of big sharks last year and was hoping to catch one this year, but how the hell do you unhook a shark in the water, when the bugger could be as big or bigger than you?

Any advice Santosh (or anyone else)? I guess it levels the playing field a bit! :D
