  1. Another great video from you Brian thanks for sharing. So when you're fishing a new bait or a new spot do you do any prebaiting the spot? Do you bait the swim regularly or is your pva bags the only freebies you are putting out? Thanks for sparking the fire more I have a few spots I want to hit maybe this weekend just for day sessions. All spots I am thinking about I can almost guarantee have never been targeted for carp. Any suggestions? Chumming here isn't legal but I almost always use either pva or some form of pack since that kinda falls in a grey area and it gets some bait in the water.

  2. The tip eye is easy to change if you can find one of the same size. I just did the one on my sturgeon rod. Just heat up the old tip and twist it off clean it up and glue on a new one. Chub may send you a new tip so you don't have to send out the rod.

  3. They're both the same. Put the plastic insert through the lead to protect your line. The larger hole closest to your hook. Line through lead and insert. Most leads and inserts are made for a size 8 barrel swivel to sit inside of the hole then your hook. That way if your line breaks they can still shake free from the lead.

  4. Also about using pack and spodding. My opinion your spod mix will bring them in and keep them feeding but I still use a method of some sort because that has a little added flavor and extra attraction directly to my hookbait. Just my .02

  5. Alex a 1/0 hook is much larger that a 8/0 big hook and a big chunk of fishy flesh tends to do the trick. Slimy I just run the hook through and push it up the line a little and run the hook through again. That way the bait stays on the hook but there is enough hook showing to get a good hook set. I also sometimes need to use some elastic string to keep some softer baits on.

Here is a little one my uncle caught think it was 10 or 12 foot I dont remember

  6. MarshallB the Idaho state record is a 67lb and change common and I am sure with the waters that are in Ohio they would have great chances of growing commons to those sizes.

  7. I have never fished lake sturgeon but we have and fish White Sturgeon all the time. My sturgeon rigs are Xtra heavy 10' Ugly Sticks with Penn 330GT2 reels with 50lb Berkley big game high impact line. Most areas we fish require at least 8oz leads 1/0 hooks sometimes circle hooks when the bite is finnicky. My biggest sturgeon a 12'er barely made the rod tip twitch real soft bite and other times they bend the pole in half. The best baits are usualy cut bait from something they are used to eating. Trout, crappie, and the fish here LOVE the Green TRASH fish aka BASS lol..... We also use a lot of pickled squid. Oh forgot the sinker slides we use are plastic tubes with swivels on them set up a lot like we would use a lead clip.

When we fish from the boat you can sometimes see fish laying in a deep hole on the fish finder looks like a shelf across the bottom on the screen.

Good luck to you hope to see some pics soon. I have heard of guys back there using huge globs of nightcrawlers but everything else is going to be all over them too.
