I realy like the using stones idea. I have yet to try it but I think Josh has. Drill a hole and epoxy in a swivel. Much easier and cheaper than buying lead and molds just get some epoxy and a bunch of stones that weigh what you want them to and get a bucket of cheap swivels off ebay. Oh and a good drill bit

Dale the dam is where I usualy fish that lake I live 5 min down the road. I like to fish Swan Falls dam also its just a PITA to get to the other side where I always end up dragging all my gear. I tend to fish there when I have a helper to carry my load. I gotta get a waggon or something....

Rob today was no doubt a success and I had a blast. I would just have thought with landing that many fish at least ONE fish in or close to 20lbs would have come in.
Mick the ONLY pic I took was with my phone I didn't even open the camera bag. I shoulda built a coral and took a pic of them all in it before letting them loose.

I went over to Lake Lowell today to fish since it is 5 minutes from home. I made up two different baits one was red peach grits pack. I know I know its not a summer bait. I also made up some oats and added some cayenne pepper and some of R&Ws new XXX Hot Peanut Butter flavor. The grits rod got puffs and the oats rod got a 10mill yellow artificial boilie.
Everything set up and rods in at 10:30 Puffs struck first at 10:50 bringing in a small carp probably under 10lbs before I got the rod back in the water the oats rod took off screaming and another small single fish. I repacked both rods and put them back out. Not 5 minutes back in the water and off goes the oats and before I get the fish in the net the grits rod goes off.
To make a long story of the same thing over and over again short I ended my trip at 4:30 because BOTH of my bait buckets were EMPTY and cleaned out by 63 fish coming to my net and not one of them over 15lbs. I was fishing alone and I didn't think any of these fish were worth attempting self photos for so no pics of my tiddler fest today. There were times that I couldn't even get both rods in the water because the other was taking off...I got several takes on the oats before I even got the rod back on the pod. So today was a small fish haul fest and I cant say that one bait outfished the other but the oats were gone first if that makes a difference.
I remember when I was younger going to this lake for our family reunion and watching the HUGE carp spawning and now I have yet to see any fish that looks that it will go over 20lbs. The F&G here has talked several times about killing off the whole lake to get rid of the carp. This lake is managed as a trophy bass fishery and yet all these little carp have only managed to reduce their own size and dont seem to have any ill effect on the bass. I would love to see more monster carp in here like there used to be.....
All in all a fun day with lots of fish and sun. Just nothing with any size

GREAT video it sums it up nicely

I ordered some flavors from R&W but I intent to try flavors from a few different companys. The red peach flavor seems to pop up all over the place with great reports. I was thinking of trying the red peach from a few different companys just to see how the different brands compare on my waters. Thanks for all the suggestions guys
-
dang it no the VBN is the one I wanted but no I ordered just the regular butternut. Already gonna have to pick the flavors for my next order. haha
-
Thanks for everybodys suggestions. Since I have a little experience with the R&W flavors and I have had great results and the endless selection. It's looking like I am going to place a order for several of their flavors to try out. I'm thinking Red Peach, Butternut, Banana Cream,Glow Bait, XXXHot PeanutButter, and Pineapple Extreme to start.
-
Thanks guys any suggestions on brand and where to order? I only found one place to order R&W online and it looks like a county store. There or there is the phone number on the bottles that I have.
-
Congrats on a great day spent with your father.

I am going to start dabbling with some SPL baits here and I was just wondering if anybody had suggestions on good flavors to start with and where the best place to order from would be. I have R&W chocolate and cotton candy that I got from Ken on here. I have added the cotton candy to my method and have had good luck but I would like to play around with more flavors and I am going to start using grits. Any ideas or suggestions would be great thanks
Chris

Hmmmmm I may have to book a trip one of these days. I have watched the repeats of the buff show several times great job on getting the word out. Oh and if you watch close he does open the bail when he breaks off the lead. I assume he must have bumped it on the cast as I have done a couple times. Oooops.
