Welcome to the CAG forums. I dont blame you for wanting to support your local shops and depending on the style of fishing you choose you should be able to get everything you need. Paylake style fishing doesn't realy require any fancy gear like the euro style does and you can use everything that you already have but I gotta warn you once you catch the carpin bug it may get hard to not go online and start ordering all the fancy gear lol....

ALMOST every body of water here in america holds carp your best bet is to look up who is your states chairman and try and find a couple members in your area (MOST) guys are more than happy to meet up and go fishing with you and show you what works for them.

I built a house up in the Mountains here that has a big pond out back that is stocked with some and from the roof you can usualy see them cruisin around and two of them I swear look to be 5ft long. Luckily we are friends with the home owner and I am welcome to come fish there so when I get the time I intend to untill then I told him to get the kids to feed them bread so there ready for me.
