  1. Great Job Derek. Being local and having fished the lake a lot Dot and I were wanting to put a whupping on all of you but we got served a piece of Humble Pie. Slinker, Denice, wow what fisherman, and the Gilbert such a hard worker. Joey and Derek, never a dull moment with you two around. Dot, thats probably a record run time you had about 3 AM seemed like that fish ran for 5 minutes before you woke to catch it. To all the other fisherman, come visit us any time. Jim at Westside Bait and Tackle you are a class act thanks for the prizes. Hope to see you all at the next social.

  2. I will be there and yes probably bivvy up the night before. I' do some baiting the day before for everyone. and also bring some drinks and other food. Dot plans on being there also. Did my first session there yesterday caught a 19, a 17 and a 7 pounder. in a late afternoon session. Let me know what areas you want baited

  3. If You have a medical supply store near they should sell surgical tubing. It comes in a couple of different sizes. Buy the thickest you can and use it to replace the bands on your catapult. You can make them longer than normal. These rubber bands are usually a lot heaver than what comes on the catapult thus will give you more distance

  4. Ok Dennis you did it again. Resistance Tackle UNDER CHARGED me. My shipping charges were allmost $10.00 more than they showed on my Order Receipt and Dennis paid them for me. WOW Resistance gets Two thumbs Up from me. Thank you for the super fast mailing of my order. and Thank you for paying the extra shipping. My Delkims are beautiful cant wait to use them. Thanks Again Dick Neitzke :yourock:

  5. I know this must sound dumb, but if i understand correctly the zig rigs allow the bait to suspend off bottom like a pop up but maybe several feet off bottom, closer to the top of the lake. What is the advantage of the zig over just fishing with a float "bobber" except from keeping your bait in one place. excuse me for my ignorance.

  6. when i pressure cook my dried corn i use 4 parts water to 2 parts corn, the corn will absorb all most all of the water. After the pressure cooker cools and i open the lid i usually have to add 1 more part water and within a couple of hours that water is also absorbed into the corn. I usually ad the flavor in the last water and it does a good job. When I boil corn for spombing though I usually add nothing but salt. My favorite mix to spomb is a mixture of tiger nuts and field corn, I feel like the corn takes the flavor of the tiger nuts. when i prepare cracked corn for a pack bait i usually get the water boiling than add the corn and just put a lid on it and let it cool down. I usually use cracked corn and a mixture of bird seed for my base to make my pack and i often flavor it with, pineapple juice, red pepper, or sometimes jello of different flavors, have even used canned milk, artificial sweetners, chocolate, chili power, chopped up jalapeno peppers, franks hot sauce, mango drink mix, over ripe bananas squished up, and have caught an all of the above flavors.

  7. Way to go, nice set up, but i can tell you its just a start. I plan on going to Westside bait and tackle, a 200 mile round trip next week here in indiana to get my "tackle fix". hum do you think my wife will believe I get all this stuff for $25. Good Luck

  8. I dont talk about this much because i never got to see the fish but here is the story. I was fishing with my God Daughter, now she is not a kid, she is a grown woman who has caught carp up to 24 lbs and many teen fish, she is limited some because of a bad back, 2 or 3 fish in a row and she is done for the day. We were set up about 40 ft apart and had caught a few flippers when one of her alarms screamed, she was several feet away but finaly lifted her rod and was into a STRONG fish. It started running to her right against the drag. The fish ran and ran must have taken out 40 yards of line, it wouldn't turn. She yelled Daddy, thats what she calls me, please take my rod i cant handle it. You know the rest of the story. I took her rod and it ran another 40 yards and big old strong daddy thought, i had better put a little more pressure on this fish and lifted the rod toward the sky, it kept running. I reached down and tightened the drag, the fish would not let up one continuous run and than it happened, Slack line, a hook pull. A 30, maybe a 40lb or even bigger, this lake has supposedly given up 40 lb plus fish. I learned something that day. dont pressure the fish if the water is realitive snag free. I should of let it run some more , it would of turned soon. Now i have lost fish before and some big fish but this one pulled harder than anything i had ever had hooked

Got one more story i might tell later about a fish on the bank

  9. I am faithful believer in tigernuts. I buy a standard size nut, i guess you would call them that, they are not the large tigetnuts. from westside bait in indianapolis. I go thru the nuts and pull out the larger ones to prepare for my hair rig. I Often put two tigers and a fake corn on the hair, the fake corn also helps the tigers float lightly, i guess you could say a balanced rig.. I sometimes put the nuts in a blender and chop them up than boil them with hemp seed. than I use this for a wetter for my pack bait. I keep the whole "hook bait" nuts in a sealed jar, i like the slime and stink, i think it works best. I usuall add nothing except some salt when preparing the nuts and I allways use lake water so as not to have any chlorine. The chopped tiger nuts in my pack bait gives me a lot of confidence, I allmost allways have a few in whatever pack bait I'm using. I fish with 3 rods here in Indiana and I usuall yave 3 different hook baits on my hair rigs, 1-tigernuts with fake corn, 2- a boiley and 3 a dough bait i make and use on the hair rig. I would say that 60 % of the time the tigernut rig will get bit first. All I can say is. Try them, you will like them.

  10. I am fairly new to carp fishing "about 3 years"and have up graded some of my rods and reels but i have a chub snooper 3 lb with an okuma abf 50 reel that i love. I am also a big fan of the okuma reels I use the abf 50 the abf 65's and have an Okuma powe-liner PL-865 which i love.my reels get hard use and a lot of use. I dont think you can beat the Okuma reels.
