  1. Bob put me down for a double donation. I'll donate a set of 3 custom hangers. Also a 3-way! It is a tripod weigh sling, river pod, and camera tripod. Look in the DIY section of the CAG forum for pictures.

    Tips up and butts down!

tips down, butts up, that's the way you like to....set your rod up?

make sure the hangers are of the ducky version!

any chance we can make this? I would love to take home some more of your stuff!

  2. thanks for starting this buckeye bob.

whilst I feel slightly excluded from this this topic, I feel I still have something to add. i have mostly been a member for over ten years(ok I missed a year I think!) based in England,Uk. have fished your side for 15 years now and have seen from afar the effect cag has had on carp fishing in the USA. not only that..i have had the amazing pleasure of gaining many American friends because of CAG.

when I first started coming over, nobody knew about the carp fishing scene where I chose to fish. now all the locals are joining in! I haven't fished a lot of area's, (5 states) but everywhere I have been back to has seen a marked charge in attitude, and the perception of the mighty carp. cag have certainly had a massive influence on this and long may it continue.

I have found the usa carp scene a breath of fresh air compared to where I live. some of the fishing reports concerning big wild untapped places have me fixated. you guys are so lucky! just get the locals in your area understanding how cool our sport is and bingo! the future has to be more local events tied in under one umbrella that is cag. its a slow burner changing peoples long held ideas regarding carp but it can happen. look at the st Lawrence junior tournament as an example of how a whole area can grasp what we are all about! get the kids involved and the rest will follow.

all my best to all members and keep supporting this great club. it has certainly brought me together with loads of cool usa carpers!

  3. things point to rig issues if you are getting the old pick up but not hooking them. I notice you are using floating corn.they could be feeding it the silt so try sweetcorn hard on the bottom. in the mean time you could try putting sweetcorn straight on the hook to see if you can get a pick up. fish it bolt rig though.

    hope things improve for you.

  4. a great write up from a truly dedicated st Lawrence nuts fellow brit. there are not many of us but we know where our carp bread is buttered eh Marcus!

glad you had a great trip mate. thanks for posting up such a great account from an area off the beaten track. I recorded the football tonight and have paused spain 1 Netherlands 5. what you have to say concerning your trip is far more interesting than a cool world cup match.....and that is coming from a football loon!

lets do a trip sometime. not sure about a couple of pints and setting the alarm though. more like fish all night with bbq and beer then sleep when the sun is too hot.

  5. Absolutely awesome soundtrack

Organized by AFBob, this is surely gonna be a first-class tournament!

that music was awful! gimme house music all night long!

certainly can't disagree when it comes to your last statement though. have a great time fishing it....and of course what is sure to be a great social too.

  6. would love to join you mate and really want to head over this year at some point. much depends on world cup tickets though.

always used to fish in june donkeys years ago and had some phenomenal results. have had snow in the first week of june before though.

    regards

  7. One car per team? Better be a panel van to carry gear & bait for 2 anglers! Seems at least one team member is paying parking? That's if there actually IS any parking within less than 1/4 mile of the swim? F=2k the City for being so mercenary.

and so the annual bleating festival continues....albeit a bit late this year. i blame global warming....or the menopause.

  8. greg.

sounds like a good spot. they love eating bread all year round too and its sounds like people have been baiting up for you! just make sure the water coming in through the pipes is warmer than the lake. take a thermometer with you as really cold water coming in can kill it. best of luck mate

  9. Undertow and water flow around lake beds is a fascinating topic. I'm sure if we pay more attention to this area and use some 'liquid' food attractants we'll see some good results.

the variety between lake and tidal/non tidal river is huge. whilst my brother and I always put liquid foods in our bait, I would really like to ask a few questions of your opinion as well as frank's . I know frank laid out some of his thinking, it must of taken a fair amount of knowledge to ask the questions!

can I fire some questions at you savayman? i could do with another opinion on the huge conundrum james and i are faced with!

    cheers
