@ andrewdeeley- First and foremost, I must confess my jealousy of you living in a country where the hobby/sport of carping is looked upon as something to admire! It is, generally speaking, quite the opposite here in the States, where they are most commonly (and unfortunately!) viewed as an invasive "garbage fish" not worthy of pursuit. Disheartening to say the least! There are however some very good carping waters in my home state. I'll be keeping a close eye on your posts as I'm extremely eager to see how someone with much more carping experience gets on in some of the waters I regularly fish! A word of warning however, when fishing the Eastern side of the state, watch out for bowfishermen! They're thick over there and don't take to kindly to us "pleasure" carpers.
hi greg.
don't be jealous of here (uk)! there are so many people fishing for carp in not enough water that it is a total circus. you probably have more water in your state than we have. I search out wild uncaught fish if I can. that means hard fishing generally instead of sitting round a pond full of anglers catching the same poor old carp!
embrace what you have....a pretty much untapped paradise of carp fishing! why do you think i'm flying about 7-8000 miles to have some of it?!!!!
I do not worry about bow fisherman. they used to wind me up when I first stated fishing in the usa, I know they alone can't control carp stocks and I just laugh at them now. they are just pissing in the wind when it comes to control.
it seems to me that the main worry for carp fisherman in your area is the treatment of lakes with what is I think a plant extract called rotenone, tipped into lakes by the authorities. look up Sprague lake carp and also ephrata lake carp!
if I meet any bow people, I'm fishing for wanker fish and bollocks trout if asked!
pm me and I can give you some more detail.

hi greg
whilst I am not from Washington or even the usa ( I live in the uk) my brother, okiecarper and myself are heading out to Washington very soon for a ten day trip. we plan on fishing around pot holes, moses and the Columbia river. can't say where we will be on any given day but will post results up on here as to how we get on. am certainly looking forward to finding out about what looks like a fantastic carping area.
click on the pacific north west part of this forum. one of the threads has a link to a load of archive stuff on your area.
regards

great stuff. well done on some lovely looking fish.

the machine is still well oiled!
last time i spoke to him he had lost a little love for fishing. glad he is back out doing what only he can do....churn out stupid numbers of large fish captures regardless of weight.

well done on the fish and also dealing with bow man. I could rant about bow fishing all day long but its your thread so will leave it at that.
also noted your comfy spot! campling in style is called glamping these days so why shouldn't your spot where you carp fish in comfort and glamour be called glarping?!!!!

joyce...a warm welcome from the uk. a few of us love fishing in the usa that much that this forum is no1!
glad for you that you found us all at the youngish age of 47 and also found carp again. you mentioned float fishing for them. I love float fishing or float ledgering for carp and look forward to hearing about your future trips.

lets start a riot! nobodies right, nobodies wrong!
so you can always start a riot and not get in trouble?
I will quote that band to the police/mods next time I misbehave.
how ironic. the band must have known when they wrote it.

been fishing for carp a long time (not quite as long as you!) but still found this article informative and a great read.
like you, I always take far more than necessary and also find my fishing time increasingly limited. you have given me a few pointers as to how I can increase my fishing time and be more organised than slightly chaotic! for that as well as taking the time to help others....I thank you.
hope you have a good season ahead.

hello old captain.
firstly, I think you have done a great job with your friends on the canoe. looks great!
also hope you have fun looking round that lake and wherever else you take the boat this year!

amazing fish. never seen one but it looks like a saltwater nile perch. well done on the p.b and other captures.
-
well done on the fish and also for getting out there and hauling them on a chilly day! keep up the good work guys.

fresh off the back of the atc and now this!
I am amazed at this! even attempting to fish such a massive place like lake erie, in that weather, whilst the water temp is rock bottom gets huge kudos from me.
whilst you have the keenness of youth on your side, you are the most hardcore there is!
nice one and carry on putting all around to shame!

I always thought leathers didn't have a single scale on them. have only ever caught about 4 of them like this.
this one is quite famous..... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3001984/Anglers-tears-as-Heather-the-carp-dies.html
