Find them shallow and sight fish. Wooly worms or any leach/crayfish looking patern. If that doesnt work large nymph patterns like stoneflly. Seeing a carp turn on your fly and suck it in is one of the most exciting things in fishing.

I fish below a few lowhead damns in the fall and winter the fish seem concentrated and very willing to bite. Really high numbers at my spots but not alot of really big ones.

Friday i started a boillie feed at the lake at my apartment complex. Thanks to Mario for the bricking technique it has pretty much eliminated child labor in my kitchen. On sunday I started fishing my baited swim. Several family members stopped by and got a taste of carpin. both of my sisters and my mom.

A couple of weeks ago i caught a bass that was barely one pound and it had tiny webbed feet sticking out of its gullet and it was still hungry. I guess that is how the big ones get big.

You just saved me some money on bank sticks i had no idea my legs would work. I will be likely to go out for short one rod night sessions after work now. Yeah.To add to what Mick said above, those Rod Pods are designed to fit bite alarms.
Most models, you can use the legs for bank sticks.
Like Mick, I find them most useful on hard banks, concrete or even on the rocks.
Legs can be adjusted to level it out on almost any surface.
It's NOT a MUST, it's a convenience . Where you fish should dictate if you need one or not.
They vary in price from $60 - $1000+ .

This may not be a problem everywhere but i fear that if this info on targeting carp were free it could fall into the wrong hands. Where i am from there are "anglers" who have never released a carp and the stinking corpsesm litter the banks of swims where i catch fifty in a day. If these people came across our tecniques the results could be devistating. Now i think they would never pay to join a "stinkin carp" forum but if they came across this for free? Just my opinion.

I started going fishing with my father in one of those backpack kid carrier things until i learned to walk. It was usually him chasing bass while i played with sunfish. When i was around ten years old those huge fish that exploded by the bank as i walked by started to peak my interest. While trout fishing the animas river in New Mexico with half a crawler, #14 salmon egg hook, one BB splitshot, and four pound test I had my first encounter. I have been hooked since. I used that light tackel and worms for years until i came across a good dog food dough bait recipe. I learned of eruo tactics this year and have enjoyed adapting euro and American tactics to fit my needs. Thanks CAG.
