I am currently saving up for a set of big pit reels and I really like the look of the windcast and crosscast BR models, from looking at the provided specs it is tough to make a comparison of the reels, there are a lot of similarities and the line capacity specs are given with different sized lines. Does anyone have any experience with either of these models?

If a state chair collects cash payment from a prospective member at a social, can they enroll the new member online for them?
-
Thank you for putting all of this together! Hopefully I can drum up some interest from past members

As a fellow sealine user this is great to hear in case any problems arose in the future

Awesome! Thanks Andy

I would like to obtain a list of all current and former Indiana members. If this is possible does anyone know how I would go about it?

Hey everyone, here is the schedule for the CAG socials that will be held this year
April 12-Lake Salinda 8am to 6pm
June 7/8-Lake Monroe overnighter at Moore’s creek 12pm-12pm
October 11/12-Sylvan Lake overnighter 8am on the 11th to 12pm on the 12th
December 31st/January 1st FFF social at Turtle Creek
Since I am kind of late getting this out I did my best to work around the schedules of all the various groups putting on events this year, if there is any scheduling conflicts I do apologize. I put this schedule together myself with some input from others; next year I would like to put together the schedule as a group like has been done in years past.
I am working on obtaining some medals that will be awarded for biggest fish from CAG, if that doesn’t work out I will work on getting plaques made like what has been handed out in the past. Instead of biggest fish, will probably do an award for most fish caught for the turtle creek social.
I will bring my grill and some hot dogs or bratwurst to each social, if anyone would like to pitch in any food or beverages that would be great. There will be a roll call thread started a couple weeks prior to each social where this can be discussed further.
I will not be organizing any cash side pots, but if anyone else wants to do that that is fine.
If anyone has any questions, let me know. I can’t wait to see what 2014 holds, hopefully winter gets packing soon and we will be out on the bank before we know it!

I don't think a kd rig or muzza rig is going to turn into your palm like bottom bait rigs do when you drag them across your palm. They are still very affective with a balanced bait.

Clicking on that link resulted in a a legitimate "lol" for me.You'll have to get you some LBL Line in order to land the Austin fish.

Pretty good stuff, especially enjoyed the bystander reactions

Indianacarptalk has been slow lately so I thought I would post here for a change, are there any cag socials or anything else in the works?

I was born in Iowa and the majority of my family still resides there, the state is pretty much a blank
slate when it comes to modern carping. I haven't found any info in the cag archives worth noting and very little elsewhere on the interweb. Here is what little info I have been able to scrape up, the oelwein park lake had very large fish in the late 70's early 80's, I've seen faded Polaroids of trot lined fish well over 20 lb.s, the wapsi around devils backbone has good numbers of hard fighting commons but I've only caught small ones, the Mississippi around Dubuque is a match anglers dream with predominately small buffalo with the occasional fish in the mid teens and a lot of smaller commons, fish with corn anywhere near an elevator where barges are filled with grain on the Mississippi and you will have trouble keeping lines in the water. Iowa dnr is very anti-carp and spends a lot of resources on their destruction, I have even seen designated carp disposal bins at some boat ramps and public areas.

Tactics? I am going to drink a bottle of cheap champagne then go to bed in front of a propane heater, I am hoping I remember to cast my rods out first.

I suppose I will go ahead and join in on the craziness.

Love it on my plastics, I don't have any proof that it has improved my catch rate but it has definitely raised my confidence in pop up corn. The sweetness is intense and lingers on baits for hours after being cast out out.

I enjoyed your article, also appreciate that it made me aware of the entire CC Moore blog as well, lot of good stuff on there!

Zebco 808's have a bait clicker lever that lets the reel free spool just like a bait runner, paylakers around here use them and they are readily available at every Walmart.

The best description of a longs donut is a very improved Krispy Kreme, if anyone is craving a burger after fishing at hubbards, Teddy's burger joint on southport rd and 37 will be on your way to the corn boil, the gourmet burgers and draft beer selection is excellent. The Hawaiian burger and sun kings creme ale are my favorites.Long's Donuts are out of this world, and about a 5 minute drive from my hotel- very dangerous! Whenever I've been, the line has been out the door, but they do get to you in good time.

Congrats on a good session Robert

Save a 2XL for me please Jim, Thanks!

You can buy an Illinois fishing license, but if I were you I would buy an Indiana one, LOL.
I was just being snarky, I am a little dissapointed in the 2 rod decision but also a little excited to finally use the little black plugs that covers up the center threads on my fox pod.

Will we also need to purchase an Illinois fishing license in order to take part in the tournament?I spoke to Santiago today and this years CCC will be a two (2) rod limit. Any questions please contact him.

There is at least a 15 foot wide area cleared out for each peg, no one should have any difficulties casting.I hope those bushes are cut down before the CCC its going to make it hard to cast
Crosscast vs windcast
in Beginning Carping
Posted
Cheapest I have been able to find the crosscast BR is in the 140-160 range. Did some deeper reading on the subject. The windcast has 4 bearings instead of 2 on the crosscast, the windcast seems to be a little more solidly built with some major parts being made from cnc milled aluminum instead of "composite". Other than that though the specs are identical for overall size, line capacity, gearing and retrieve.
