  1. Fantastic !!!!! if no on STEALS them we should be on good shape, if not the directions are great anyhow,,,,,,, peg signs are printed in NIGHT GLOW COLORS, and there will be a headlamp in your ATC bucket, should be able to see them all the time :)

  2. Thanks Todd, I like to consider the ATC as CAGS' FLAGSHIP EVENT :). of course the CCC is pretty well up there as well. :) ....sometime you really should try to make it,,,,

we have put together a GREAT TEAM..and believe it or not, it started in the planning almost 11 months ago..

Permits from the City, Insurance, Coordination with the Various Rowing clubs on the lake, Parking permits for certain areas, sponsorships, gifts, Goodies for the traditional Bait bucket, which now are, Beanies, headlamps and batteries, bait flavorings, Cag and ATC decals, :) Coordination with Hooters, Dominoes,Twin Peaks, the Hotel, Banquet arrangements, arrangements for lunch on Friday afternoon (bankside) and the list goes on and on,,,,,,, can't be done by a single person, really impossible ! the ACA ( Austin Carp Anglers )guys & gals, have been so key to this effort, what with pruning swims, getting new swims, advising me of changes in the City which could affect the event ( like Parking meters :( ) but then again, it's a good time for CAGGERS to get together, and enjoy the possibility of breaking their PB, as well as socialize,,,,,,,worth the effort,,,well KINDA :)

  3. Dave EXACTLY RIGHT !!!

My secretary is now working on the envelopes.....if there is a peg in an envelope that requires a special parking pass, it will be issued to the team member at that time,,,,The envelope will have:

Directions to the peg, and scorecard ......All scorecards MUST be returned at end of the days fishing or the talleys WILL NOT COUNT !! even if NOTHING was caught,,,,,,All captures recorded on the card MUST be verified by either a MARSHALL or an opposing team member,,,,,

The City council will vote on Thursday on whether or not to waive parking fees, however we already have RESERVED spaces for the pegs that need them,,,,one pass per team,,,,

  4. Brid - why don't you just stop bitching and moaning about everything. A lot of people have put a lot of effort into the ATC (the same as every year) and don't need to hear your ungrateful bull####.

So you have to walk to some of the swims and parking is limited. The world has yet to become a perfect place where you can drive right up to your spot, park for free and not have to carry anything to go fishing.

My advice is just quit fishing if you are not having fun and it does not make you happy. Don't spread your disgruntled, pissed off and moaning demeanor on the rest of us.

Bottom line no one wants to hear your misery derived moaning - why do you think most people care not to fish with you any more.

    Just shut the F up.

    :jumpy:yeah that's what I was thinking :jumpy:

  5. not even going to comment on this post from Brid,,,,,I think just about everyone knows that Brid, will be Brid,,,,,and I'll let it stay at that :( but Brid, you really are starting to PISS ME OFF !!!

I had some additional comments on here but decided to remove them since it's a family forum :(

  6. Carl who supplies many items for the event at NO CHARGE, such as the peg signs, score cards, scale cerification decals, stc. stc is working on a LARGE map with all the swims ( new & old) which will be mounted on an easel at the Thursday social, and each morning of the peg draw,,, My secretary is working on evelopes that will have DETAILED directions to each of the pegs, in COLOR both graphic & written,,,, You should have no problems getting there,,if you pull a peg that is near a meter, there sill be an all day meter pass given to you with the envelope,,( one car per team) all I could wangle from the city,,,

read up on last events, do your homework, all pegs are very capable of producung good fish,,,, just don't ecpect to get to a peg and have jump into your landing mat,,,,you got to work a little :)

  7. there will be detailed instructions in the packets to the pegs,,,,, these were created by the ACA guys/gals,,,,so there should be no problems,,,,,,I have no problems opening up the PDF file and increasing it to 150%

Like many cities, Austin TX, has fair sized river flowing right through it, with a beautiful park for joggers, cyclists, and anglers to enjoy. It’s really a perfect place for carp fishing, with lots of room, friendly people and beautiful scenery. That’s what David Moore and Brian Nordberg, both former CAG presidents thought several years ago. But at the time there was very little information about what the carp fishing in Town Lake(Now Lady Bird Lake) was like. Pioneering new water is one of the great things about carp fishing in the USA, so David and Brian Gave it a shot. The result was many huge fish right off the bat, several breaking the Texas State Record! Rather than keep this venue a secret, the pair shared what they had found with the rest of CAG and the Austin Team Championships was born! Thanks you Dave & Brian and the other Pioneers of this venue.

The ATC is a team-based tournament that lasts two days. The competitors fish a new peg each day, so there is a peg draw each morning. This tournament has been responsible for many 30+ lb fish, several 40’s and countless personal bests by the competitors. There have also been captures of Smallmouth Buffalo exceeding 60 lbs!

In 2007, as a result of the attention that Carpers had been giving the lake, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department recognized that this was a special lake and in 2008 they began to manage it as The First Trophy Carp Fishery in Texas. It is also the first Trophy Carp Fishery in the United States :)

    REQUIREMENTS

    • are required to have a VALID Texas fishing License ; you may purchase them by phone at (800)895-4248. Or online at: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/
    • Licenses are also sold at Wal-Mart, Academy, and other sporting goods stores.
    • If you would like to fish prior to the tournament we can recommend areas that will be permitted. Austin Lake has a campground (Emma Long) and it is a very similar type of venue (see rules). there are some growths of Hydrilla and Milfoil, so beware! Another Venue is Decker Lake, known for Large Buffs.

    Rules:
    • No pre-fishing in Town Lake from Sunday through the start of the event. Anyone seen not complying with this will disqualify his or her team from the competition and the entry fee will not be refunded. All participants are allowed to plumb and research the lake; this includes the use of SMART CASTS.
. A representative of each team MUST be present at the peg draw, if one is not present that peg will be forfeited and the team will be issued whatever peg is left.
The Peg Drawn is the Peg you Must fish!

    • Only Cyprinus Carpio count for total weight and big fish (no buffalo, grass carp, Old tires, tennis shoes, dead anglers, lousy team members, etc.)
    • ONCE AGAIN, a special award for the biggest Buffalo (any variety) will be presented.
    • Each two-person team may fish anywhere within half the distance of opposing team pegs, ( this means the casting distance, you may not physically walk to and fish in the other teams peg !) including pegs on the other side of the lake (you must however be in the same Zip Code & County).

    • Each team MUST have 1 net that provides a safe way to land fish. Nylon knotted nets will not be allowed.
. Each team MUST have a Scale that has been checked and calibrated at the Corn Boil for the event. We will calibrate with 5 pounds of water in a bucket, check your scales before you get there !
    • Each team MUST have a well-padded unhooking mat and weigh sling.
.Each team MUST have a tape measure , all fish are to be measured and recorded on the score cards. We do this to assist Parks & Wildlife.
    • a max. Of 6 rods in the water(having hooks on them) per team at any ONE time.!
.SPOD rods and Marker rods are permitted they must not have hooks on them!
. Opposing teams will weigh and record captures,,,remote locations will have a Steward to do this
    • One hook per rod and no treble hooks or any multi-pronged hooks allowed.
    • Fish must be weighed, measured, and then verified by an opposing team member or a steward. Please return fish to the water promptly, after taking your photo(s) releases should be verified by the opposing team member or Marshal. Only one fish per sack, if necessary

. All captures must be uploaded in the newly formed Leaderboard within 1 hour of the confirmed capture

. All Scorecards MUST be turned in, the scorecards have the opposing teams verification on them,,,these must be submitted at the end of each day irrespective of whether you caught or not if the scorecard is NOT turned in at end of the days angling captures WILL NOT COUNT !! turn them in to Neil Stern,

.Scorecards not turned in will result in DISQUALIFICATION
    • Boats will not be allowed during the event, this includes Kayaks, Row boats,Submarines, and bait boats.

  9. Brid.....NO. open up the PDF version and enlarge it to your hearts content ! it is much larger and clearer...there will be a full blown map at the event.( which Carl is providing at his own expense and it is expensive to reproduce !)....that's all I've got, and not going to post all peg directions before the event, pr ask te ATC guiys to do any more work on this they have done an outstandiong job in getting these pegs and clearing most of them for the Anglers,

    Dave --see clarification here http://www.carpanglersgroup.com/forum/index.php?/topic/52877-2014-atc-rules/

  10. Please note, that these are the pegs the Committee has determined we will use,( and I can't thank Keith, and the rest of the Austin Carp Anglers for all their work on this ),,,,because of the DYNAMIC nature of the City of Austin, several pegs may NOT BE USED...

Directions to the pegs, will be in the envelopes drawn at the Peg Draw,,,,do your research,,,,,,, all pegs are good and very fish able :)

remember we draw FIRST to determine the order of the draw

then a team representative draws 2 pegs, has 10 seconds to determine which one they will fish, returns the unused peg to the bucket, goes to the peg table and gets the directions to the chosen peg,,,,

on the 2nd day, those drew first will draw last..same format,,,,,,yes there are more than 25 pegs, but only 25 teams,,,,,as a "NICE" jesture, the team that draws LAST on day one and two, will draw 3 pegs, and select one !! no looser here,, :) do your research,,,,,,may the best team win, :)
