  1. Since the little bit of confidence I have in my carp-catching ability was severely shaken when Chuck B., at an adjoining peg, easily bellied me up on March 9 at Joliet, since any remaining morsel of confidence was completely shattered when I blanked at a practice session 200 miles north of here in Two Rivers, WI on April 7, and since I think it unethical to practice at Joliet's tournament venue less than a week prior to the tournament, I will be heading 200 miles south to Indianapolis, IN on April 10 for another practice session with my brother at Jim Donlan's first contest of the 2013 White River Carp League. There are still openings, so you boyz are welcome to attend if you think you need the practice, like I do. Good luck.

Entry and tournament information for April 10 White River Carp League

To assure a successful alignment of pegs and to comply with Larry's request, I am making it public that I may not be able to attend the April 13 5 Bridges Tournament if it doesn't "go so good" at Indy on April 10. I can't afford to throw away a $100 entry fee at Joliet when I have no confidence whatsoever. I also don't look forward to eating cat food the following week because my meal money was lost at a tournament at which I knew I had no chance. I'm on a fixed pension, after all. Good luck to those with more confidence than I. I will make sure that I give you notice at least 48 hours prior to the "5 Bridges Big 5" event.

Hope you do good cuse chuck wants to see you there... He said he wants to give you a rematch that the best deserve... good luck frank......But dont let it get you down its all part of fishing sometimes you catch and sometimes you dont look at how many times i blanked but still come back for more cuse i like to fish with the best all of the peeps from IL. and IN.

  3. I will be looking into parking places for peg's 17 and 18 for the "5 BRIDGES" Event set for April 13th 2013.

And please if you can not make it to the event please let me know asap so I can try to find a replacement, would really like to keep this event full.

Like I said earlier in this thread, If you or someone you know would be interested in being a Weigh Master for this event, I cant offer much except for a free meal alot of fishing stories and the possibility of weighing the next Illinois State record carp. :P

  4. Since it is a poker chip peg draw, knowledge of the better pegs will not help or hurt you. Seeing middle pegs are now in use.

If for some reason someone shows up late, they will get the next peg number on the list.

So if you want a chance at a proven peg, DONT BE LATE!

Peg draw will be at 5:30am SHARP.

  5. Larry Seeman easily wins February 17 "Carp Bite in the Cold" Carp Tournament at Joliet, IL

Maybe carp don’t bite in the cold! For the second weekend in a row, the carp were either too cold or not hungry, and all but one of the eleven anglers participating in the February 17th “Carp Bite in the Cold” Tournament in Joliet

Illinois caught only three fish or less.

However, Larry Seeman was an exception and the bright star of the contest as he recorded nine fish from peg 1 to easily win the event with 57 pounds, six ounces. Fish that experienced Larry’s net weighed 13-2, 11-10, 10-15, 7-7, 4-10, 3-2, 3-2, 2-2, and 1-4. Larry’s 13-2 was also second big fish of the day, earning 40% of the big fish pot.

Tony Sladek, at peg 17, took big fish honors and the accompanying trophy, medal, and 60% of the pot with a nice 18-5. The tournament’s big fish combined with a 4-8, and a 3-10 to give Tony second place winnings with a 26-7 total.

Cory Bohmann pulled in third place money from peg 9 with two fish at 11-2 and 7-9 totaling 18-11. Cory’s 11-2 also won him a Wacker Tackle Box.

Order of finish for remaining anglers catching fish was as follows:

    4th - Frank Rink (peg 23) - Three fish at 7-3, 6-8, 4-14 - 18-9 total.

    5th - Mike Woodworth (peg 8) - Two fish at 6-4 and 3-6 - 9-10 total.

    6th - Marcin Szydlowski (peg 16) - Two fish at 7-8 and 1-1 - 8-9 total.

    7th - Jess Hackney (peg 7) - Two fish at 4-6 and 3-7 - 7-13 total.

    8th - Grahame Johnston (peg 2) - Two fish at 4-5 and 3-3 - 7-8 total.

Marcin Szydlowski also won some containers for catching the smallest carp at 1-1. The items were donated by Clorox and coordinated by Cory Bohmann

Thank you to all participants for coming to a second straight J-Town event at which the bite was not very good. Our next event will be the “Is Winter Over Yet?” Tournament on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The day will be split into a Big 5 tournament from 7:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. and a total weight tournament from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m.

    Photos coming soon!
