Go and sign on to the leaderboard. Print out the BIG 4 Logo. Go out and catch some carp. Take pictures with the carp, scales and logo clearly visible. Enter them onto the leaderboard. REPEAT as often as you can until November 15th.
-
I'm sure I'll get over the 120lb barrier before November 15th I'm also sure there are a few other anglers out there who will get over this mark!! Get out an get fishing, it's still warm for this time of year.

Jerome
It looks like Dean might be about to cook your goose. Given your status as a retired person I suspect you are pretty much obliged to get out there this weekend and try to cut him off at the pass!
Iain
Still two weeks to go so plenty of time left......AND......Jerome is still leading. My goal all along was to beat 146lbs as I achieved this twice previously in TOKS contests. Not sure if I'll get there but the beauty of the Big 4 is that it only takes one or two big fish to change things

This year Massachusetts Fish and Game added a 'Catch and Release' section to their State Pin and biggest fish sections.
This includes a simple measurement, sending a few photo's and filling in an affidavit. I was interested in this new development and so got in touch with the State office. In doing so I also found out about a few other changes that were not on the website.
Firstly, Massachusetts has two sections:
1) Catch and Take (this requires the fish to be weighed at a weigh station and as you are not allowed to transport live fish from one water body to the next, means the fish will die)
2) Catch and Release (Measurement, supporting photo's and affidavit)
After speaking to one of the State officers it now seems there is also an option to catch and release the fish while still entering the 'Catch and Take' contest. You simply need to have your scales verified by a town or official (I'm still getting the specific location details on this) and along with pictures and the affidavit you also need one witness.
This is a positive step in the right direction and I having started a dialogue I am now going to see if they will allow me to promote this new addition and also have some catch and release information placed on their website. There are still several steps to go and also some rules we would like to change (such as allowing bow fishing to be in the same category and rod and reel) but it takes many small steps to get to our destination.

**CAG Big 4 - Last Chance to Register**
You still have until November 15th to compete in the Fall Big 4 contest but registration closes at midnight on October 31st. For only a $10 entry fee you can win hundreds of $$$ and other prizes. Don't delay, sign-up today!!
-
Cool! Good luck! I'll try to improve my score in the coming week too...
I'm really happy with the participation so far. We have 20 anglers I believe and more importantly around half of them have been active. Makes for a much more exciting contest.
-
Well, one needs to register for bragging rights... As to boilies, well, I guess that fat Mexican carp can get as confused as a certain English red coat, notably in presence of a weird Dutch angler!
Fat American carp also get confused by Boilies, especially when us weird Europeans fish them!! My own goal is 150lb's. I've reached just under 145lb's a couple of times in the old TOKS contest and with 3 weeks to go I think I'll get somewhere near to that Not trying to be suspenseful, but waiting until I catch 4 big carp before I post!!
-
I would expect the winning total to be over 140lb Done it myself a few times although not sure if I'll have the time needed to reach the target. I'm hoping we have lots of competition and anglers catching.

shouldn't you be pi$$ed at fox? they gave you the runaround the first time. Unless you have your facts messed up. Clearly they would have been able to warranty the first alarm with nothing but a receipt.
It is common practice for the manufacturer to have the customer go through the vendor. If the vendor does not help you then you contact the manufacturer directly. Fox have an excellent customer service department and stand behind their products but as soon as someone else tried to 'fix' the alarm the warranty was void so I'm surprised this was the course of action taken.

Well... there will be one in southern NH this upcoming Saturday!
Columbus Day weekend and my first one off in 2 months!! Unfortunately, I am entertaining the wife,my father from England and several family members, although I will be in New Hampshire further north (above Manchester). Good luck at the event.
-
Well done everyone. I'd love to get out to this event and other fish-ins but they seem to be held on Sunday's which unfortunately happen to be a work day for me. Hopefully, an event on a Saturday will see me attending
-
I have several Fox rods and have had zero issues. If it is a problem with the blank itself get in touch with the place you purchased it from and they can give you the options for a new section. I do know that they do separate butt and tip sections you can order as I am replacing a tip section myself (I broke it due to my stupidity, not the rods fault).
-
Well, I guess I'm glad I blanked near Belmont Harbor, Chicago today during a 6:00 a.m. session. I would have been disappointed to see this rule and a resulting disqualified entry after I returned from an early morning session, especially after facing gale force winds and getting soaked by crashing waves. Oh, well. It was stupid to fish in those conditions, anyway. Please do your best to ensure that all rules are posted prior to the start of an event. Thank you. --Frank
In reality Frank, your fish would have absolutely been counted. The process is the same as the spring but I hadn't included it in the official rules. The only reason for this addition is so that anglers cannot print off the logo (without registering), take catch pictures and then register after the fact. I'd hope non of our members would ever take this approach, but better safe than sorry.
Still plenty of time to get out and fish. I was planning to go out this weekend but the rain and potential hurricane may put a stop to this!! At least you got some excellent pictures.
-
For all of the anglers competing please make sure to:
Write your invoice # (when you purchased the Big 4) on the logo to confirm you are registered when taking pictures of captures.
Good luck everyone.

Getting a head start for next year!!! I'll check with Willem as I'm sure its a mistake

I remember this " I hope this helps a bit. Maybe the actual organizers will post a more detailed summary soon. --Frank "
I remember this, I guess I was expecting a Bass Master Classic kind of hoopla.
Disappointing
Please remember that ALL of the organizers are volunteers. They are not making money on the event. I will be compiling a report on the CCC for the next NACA and will include a review and pictures.
As with other areas of CAG, we are always looking for volunteers if you think you can help.
-
So to my knowledge the CCC happened this past weekend. But I don't to see any comprehensive info about it??? leaderboards, fish catches, pics of who caught what? I keep hitting NEW CONTENT and still don't see it. Is it top secret info or what?
I believe only 1 fish was caught, so probably the reason the leaderboard was not updated.

Congratulations and a great choice

The Logo
The 2015 Big 4 Logo will be attached for download below as PNG and PDF on September 30th.
You are required to submit 1 photo of each fish you catch along with it's weight. This photo MUST show the angler holding the fish, a printed 2015 Fall Big 4 logo, and your scale.
Remember, the star of these photos is you with your fish. Your photo may end up in a magazine! The logo and scale just need to be there somewhere to prove you have them. They can be anywhere in the photo as long as they are identifiable. The best way to manage this is to tape the logo to your scale:
The Big 4 Logo is only 3.75 x 2.75." This is the size of many state/provincial fishing and hunting licenses. You can Also put your logo in a standard license holder from any tackle shop, and pin it on your clothes, or even your unhooking mat.
Just try not to put the logo in your mouth, that's not going to look good in a magazine! -
Registration is now live as is the Leaderboard
