  1. Hi Terry - The leads arrived and I am quite pleased. The sand color coating is very natural looking. I can't wait to try em out. One thing I already like is the thinner guage of wire on the 3 oz flat pears. Local sinker makers use such thick wire it is difficult to use Korda or Fox lead clips. These will do nicely. I'll let you know how I get on with them. All the best, Brian "Carpaholic" Nordberg
  2. Dean - They seem like compressed coarse corn meal with a Frito's type aroma. Rgds, Brian Nordberg
  3. I certainly used Royal Baits during the ATC. This is the second time I have done well using the Baby Corn Pellets in PVA. (last time was the day after the CCC at Montrose Harbor). This was my first time to use the boilies. 40 fish later and I can say the fish certainly seemed to like them. All the best, Brian
  4. Hi Keith - I'd like to add my public thanks to Alex and Royal Carp for their generosity. I was very pleased with the Royal Carp baits as they helped Phone and I land 40 fish! The winning combination was Royal Carp Scopex plus Royal Carp Baby Corn Pellets in PVA. Alex already has a pic of my best fish from the competition. All the best.
  5. Hi Tel - The thread is still here, by default old threads are not displayed after 30 days. Any reply or update restarts the clock. So this thread will be visable for at least another 30 days. All the best.
  6. Hi Keith - Welcome to management. a few perks and a lot of grief! Just kidding. Best of luck to you and to Royal Baits. They certainly have been generous to the CAG. Alex tells me he will be bringing prizes to the ATC.
  7. Hi AlamoCarp - Ralph, yes I caught a few but nothing near as big as Zach's. He was on fire this weekend. I ended up with 6 fish, 4 over twenty. Zach had 8 fish, 2 over thirty. See the thread called Story behind ONE HAPPY CARPER up in the Pic's and Stories section for more details.
  8. I too like the corn pellets. I had a nice fish out of Montrose Harbor right after the ATC. I just bought a few bags for the upcoming ATC and decided to try 'em out. My biggest fish of the session came to a Mainline boilie fished over a pva bag of Royal Carp's corn pellets. I opened the bag of Royal "scopex" boilies. I agree that they don't smell very scopex like. There seems to be a strong note of cinnamon mixed in. Heck they will likely still catch fish, I just don't think they smell much like scopex. Grades: Corn pellets: A Scopex boilies: To Be Determined
  9. Yep, the ACS crew is alive an kicking down in Austin. They survived the T-storms of last week and are enjoying some warm weather at the moment. My guess is they will catch up on these messages when they return toward the end of this week. PS. They are catching. Last word was lots of twenties and a few thirties.
  10. Guys - I used to read about a rod called the AK47 which came with two different tip stiffnesses so suppose this idea of combining different sections is not unprecedented. In a way Paul is right, a rod really only has one TC which can be measured while it is assembled. I think the idea that is being presented is that the Butt section comes from a blank that would go 3.25 lb TC if both butt and tip were used. However, to get a little softer tip action, the lower butt is coupled with a tip from a rod which would have a 3 lb TC if kept intact. The pragmatic side of me does have one question though. What is being done with all the butts from the lighter test curve blank and the tips from the heavier test curve blank? I find it unlikely that economics would allow two blanks to be consumed per rod without substantially driving up the price. Maybe the butt and tip sections are being manufactured separately rather than coming from two full length blanks.
  11. Tony - You are correct, I was confusing euro's and pounds. The price of the book was not my main concern, rather the freight and my bank's charges. The Dutch site didn't have a means to use Pay Pal at the time I tried it. I have managed to make arrangements to obtain the book via a friend in the UK. Apologies for any confusion created. I am looking forward to enjoying this eagerly anticipated tome.
  12. Tony - I went to the website posted above and placed an order. However, the payment instructions involve wiring funds to a foreign bank. My bank will charge me $35 US dollars to perform the international wire transfer. Any savings associated with shipping rate reductions are wiped out by such a high fee. Are there any outlets for your book set up to process either credit cards or Pay Pal? I'd really like to get your book but at 50 euros including shipping = $90 to $100 US at current exchange rates plus $35 US for wire transfers, I think the $125 price tag is a little beyond my reach. Please advise.
  13. Miguel - Very pretty picture and fish. By the way, how long did it take you to position each of the fallen leaves in the background. Way to much work in my opinion
  14. Cool. I have a water where I plan to use float tactics.
  15. All - I have implemented this new forum in order to hopefully avoid future problems. As carp fishing becomes more popular here in the USA it is perfectly natural that a growing number of businesses will likely be created to serve the market. As we have from the start, we continue to see these businesses as a service to our list members. Nonetheless, it is a good idea to keep the discussion topics and the business related topics separate so that each may be enjoyed for their stated purpose. We have always tended to allow more leeway to businesses that help the CAG by advertising in the NACA or through other means such as prize donations, tackle handouts, etc. As this is a private list, we reserve the right to determine at our sole discretion what is and is not allowed to remain posted. Granted, we hope we will rarely need to exercise the right. Please feel free to refer people to this section when questions are asked in a discussion thread. I believe this new forum can make dealing with commercial issues easier for both the list users and the businesses involve. If you have any concerns or comments feel free to air them here or via PM or email.
