Hey! Those are details! Thanks for responding and sharing. That was very interesting. im starting to think that bait played a bigger part than most would think.
P.S. Congratulations!!

Exactly my point. So many baits were used but one guy did better than everybody else. ( The winner). Was he fishing boilies or maize.? Method ball or not.? Heavy baiting or not.? Was he doing something different than the rest of the field? These are just some things I thought about after the event was finished. But I do see your point... bait may not have even been a factor.
its just fun to hear about the details, especially when you are not there.
Thanks for the responses.

Is it " bad etiquette" to inquire as to what the winner used for bait? Im not sure if that info is ever shared at all.??? After these big events, we hear about the winners but not much regarding the details. I , for one, am very interested. Am I alone on this???
Bait?
Rig?
Time of catches early/late
Depth?

Im going to assume that you have caught some carp recently and are very excited to learn and catch more,( like most of us.) My advice is to continue with what has worked for you thus far and slowly build your arsenal. Im sure many people will agree with the fact that, more and nicer equipment does not equal more fish. ( But it sure is fun). Either way, Good luck and Welcome.

Living here in New England, I hear people talking about fishing " tidal" waters. I assume they are referring to rivers that are effected by ocean tides. Therefore, there is a mix of fresh and salt water. What are some facts about Carp living in these waters? Can they only tolerate minor levels of brackish water? Are there examples of Carp living in very salty waters? What are the best methods to fish these waters? ( Regarding tide and salinity.)

While driving home last night from my 5th or 6th fishless mini-session, I tried to think of all of the positives of " not catching" any fish. It wasn't easy, but I came up with this short list:
1 Plenty of extra bait and method for next session.
2 My truck and garage don't stink because my net has had no fish in it.
3 Batteries in my camera and alarms are lasting longer and staying strong.
4 More productive at work because Im not stopping and showing everybody pictures of my catches from the night before.
5 Spending more time on CAG site looking at fish others have caught.
August has been tough here in New England. Hot and Sticky again today. Hopefully, In a few weeks I can write a post about the positives of a Kick Arse Session.
