Very Pleased with the order I received earlier in the week from Carp Kit. I realize the boyz up there are " just doing their job" but my limited experience working with them was perfect. Everything I ordered was in stock and shipped quickly and well. Prices were very reasonable also. Unfortunately, with all this stinkin ice on the lakes and ponds, I have been limited to just "air-fishing" in my den. I think I have assembled and disassembled my new reel and rod on 3 different occasions since Monday just to look at it. Not to mention all the smelling and touching of my new Boilies, Pop Ups and Pellets. I need open water soon!!!

Great tip Skammer! I was thinking the same thing. Ice does float. and in a river, they would prolly drift out of range before melting. The gravel should do the trick. Oh Great! Something else in the refridgerator/freezer for the wife to whine about. ha ha

Thanks Guys, These are all great ideas and suggestions. Im definitly going to try a few of them. The spot i fish is kind of "weird".
85% of the fish I catch are caught 15 feet from the opposite shore. Very rarely do I catch in the middle of the river. When i go with my buddies we like to spread out a bit along the shore. I always attempt to spray the entire opposite shoreline (50-60 ft) with some
maize or chick peas when we arrive, but most of the bait falls a little short. We still catch fish but I often wonder if we would catch more if I was fishing in a better baited area. Boilies are heavy enough but too expensive for me to use for mass baiting. Method mix balls work also but dont cover enough area. (Too many Balls). I think ill start with Brookesy's idea with the soil, just to see if that gives me that little extra Im looking for. The long handled spoon (6 ft) is another great idea i hadnt thought of. Ill let you know how It works as soon as i can. Thanks Again.
P.S. Ice cube tray idea is pretty cool. No pun intended!

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about how I can get additional distance from my current catapult? I fish a river near my house quite often and my catapult is coming up short by about 15 feet. Im familiar with a spod but the other side of the river is very snaggy and many blowdowns. Im sure I would lose it. And there is no access to the other side. Just wondering if there are any tricks to get maize and corn a little farther.

4 degrees on the way to work this morning here in New England. I have a feeling we will be talking about this 2014 winter for a long time.
The cold temps have been relentless.
On a positive note..... The days are definitely getting longer. It won't be long boys!!

Gentleman, (All) Although I am not fishing in this tournament, I must say how impressed I am with the amount of coordination and the attention to detail put forth. I know you guys have had a few years of experience to fine tune this, but nevertheless, Good Job! I envy you all. Good luck to everybody.

Being new to this forum (any forum) and never having been on Facebook, Im confused on how the forum friends thing works. How does one obtain friends? Why does one obtain friends? How well does one need to know another before the friend request?? Whats proper etiquette? Seriously, Im clueless.

j1nx, Another great option for general infomation (and more) is RI carpfishing.blogspot.com. A lot of "how to" videos and pix.
Type in whatever subject into search box and up it comes. I learned a lot from this blog.
