  4. Thanks Jim. I'll take you up on that. The Park District is working on some posters and I could use help propping them off around town. I'll know in a couple days when the'll be ready.
  5. Due to numerous requests by Loyal CAG members and those I consider friends asking for updates I have re-opened this thread and should have finalized info after the weekend. With the change in administration in Dixon there will be some prize total changes as the event gets moved trys to become more self supporting, but the format with last year's added Advanced Division will remain..... I'm looking forward to posting the updates next week. Larry
  6. Due to requests by CAG members for information on the Dixon Event and help other promoters with their scheduling updates for CFN events will again be posted here. Larry
  7. If your including other species it will be imperative to get it right. The concerns of how bow anglers may respond is nothing compared to the firestorm the fishing industry and local guides and shops will bring if the efforts affect regular anglers including those who keep fish to eat or as trophys. Some of the city controlled waters here and even the state controlled waters have added the ability for anglers to aquire a trophy tag to allow them to keep one large fish by using an annual or by use tag. Most likely your carp anglers will release their fish, but your bigger game fish anglers desire to keep their biggest will be affected if their are no options for them and the anglers and the industry will push back.....if there are no options. Also, an occasional big fish making it to a wall does act as advertising for the water and region it came from. In the case of musky, bass and even flathead catfish we are seeing the the rules limited to one fish per day over certain lengths. On the more size sensitive fish like sturgeon, tarpon and others a yearly tag to take one has worked well at a cost/no cost depending on the intent and financial needs to implement the management program. It provides for sound management without taking away the anglers rite to keep a trophy to show off every once in a while......win/win. Combined with a catch and release pin/sticker option from the city or local business association, the changes could be used as a marketing tool for the city to promote their fisheries and Tourism destination.
  8. Is there any "Science" behind this proposal? I understand the desire to protect large fish, and would be willing to support catch and release for Trophy size fish as the it makes sence and reflects the purpose of the club. But restrictions on Carp without the same on their natural predators to amintain the same ratios could create an ecological imbalance resulting in smaller and more carp in the future.....the opposite of what everyone wants. As big as those waters are....they are still just a big fishbowl and "laws of man" to appease certain folks or as a thank you for folks traveling to a region to fish won't change the "laws of nature" and what happens when you allow predators to be removed but not the juvenile of the species they keep in check. Also, providing for a slot or smaller fish creel limit on carp would result in less blow back later from other anglers, and by CAG taking the leed in making sure there is the opportunity to take carp in safer to eat sizes (under 12#) we would appear to be sensible and fair....an image CAG could benifit from when trying to negotiate on other waters in the future....
  9. Actually asking for third quarter 2015 deadline and release date to help those fishing a tidal event.
  10. Can you post deadlines for future NACA's, or pin a yearly schedule with the deadline to submit and the release date. It might help in getting folks to plan ahead.... Myself included.
  11. I am confused why those who argued to keep the color printed NACA want to stop the news letter. Especially given that some members really seem to be working to make it happen and club interaction is the most important aspect of the club and it promotes the community aspect which is easier to reflect in a news letter and has been no absent in the NACA. But those who say print is dead in relation to clubs or the fishing undustry just don't know what they are talking about PLUS they were the ones who pushed to have the full color NACA as required by the by-laws which drove the club to near BANKRUPTCY. My derby sends out mailers with the sign up sheets and we have a 90% plus return rate evert year and the same for new folks so the numbers grow every year....we are at 100+ per event for two days.....The biggest suprise is how the younger people....especially the kids are excited and save the sign up sheets to bring them in. We send everyone an individual letter even if there are multiple people at the same location to make sure everyone is treated equal.....people remember that, might explain why more people show for that than CAG events. Yeah, until the ugliness here I posted the event on CAG and the same 6 cag members show evert year.....and they ALL bring the sign up sheet they were sent. Every States Fishing Regs, Outdoor News, Midwest Outdoors, all the local city clubs, most, most fishing tackle manufacturers catalogs and brochures are still in print. Because fishermen read them.....of all ages. The people who don't don't make up the majority of Anglers even if they may in society ( which I highly doubt). Fishermen are a different bread and an it's a older sport....it'd also a sport for all financial levels and alot of anglers just don't use tech. I know those trying to stop the paper are more concerned of the newsletter deluding or stealing the NACA ' S thunder....and if you look at BROOKSY'S last request for input and the fact more are responding to this thread....I'd put my money on the news letter.....and and I would like CAG to do just that. In the end, CAG, carp fishing and the members will be better served by a paper news letter. As industry proof print is not dead, the following companies spend enormous amounts on printed and mailed sales and information on up coming events. IN FISHERMAN Fishing Facts Bass Pro Cabelas Gander Mountain Sheets Dicks Sporting Goods Wall Mart Sports Authority Every States DNR MUSKY S INC SALMON UNLIMITED WALLEYES UNLIMITED BASS and on and on....... The news letter will work, even if it takes a little longer to get it rolling....keep up the good work.
  12. Carp Fishing Now will no longer be posting or updating events on this CAG forum. Entrys for the 2015 Dixon Event will still be made via direct mail as has been in the past.
