  1. I want to say huge props to Kody Clayton and Sean Clayton. Congratulations to you both. Very impressed spring season and very dedicated too. You’re hard work paid off. I tip my hat to you both. And you Kody a true hardcore carper for sure my friend..??

  2. I had a blast fishing the big 4 this spring!! Thank you all for the participation and most of all the competition. And a special thanks to all who put this together. I managed to get out on the last day and put up a good number of fish. This big gem clocked in at 29.00 on the nose she’s a beauty. To everyone out there in carp land keep the lines tight and the net/mat wet ??.

I've seen a few fish like that, and I am pretty sure this is some sort of skin infection. I wouldn't touch such fish with my bare hands, quite frankly.

Too late now lol. Thanks for the heads up anyway.

Nice work!!....... Interesting on the mirror. I cant see the trauma on the fish, but to me (as a zoo veterinarian :)), this appears to be more of a skin irritation, skin infection, or a reflection of a deeper problem. The lesions are generalized. The fish is too large for an otter to handle (the large carp are run up on shore where the otters can dispatch it), and a pike would be of record size to even try. Could this be more likely of spawning trauma? I see of lot of trauma in the commons here in the spring with similar, but not as severe of skin issues.....the lack of scales would predispose the fish to this type of trauma. Is this from a lake or river?....................just some thoughts and job well done!!!........   MO

It’s a river fish for sure and the redness was all over the fish. With a couple of scratches’ and  the lack of scales I could see this being a spawn injury which is a good point. Thanks for the info. Dr. MO carper

  6. Still catching some really nice fish low 30s and high 20s. However this really good looking mirror must have taken a round with an otter or a rather large pike. There where many claw scraps on it. I felt bad for the poor guy.

  7. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with what is going on here. However I now understand why no one fishes the big 4.. good luck to all ethical sportsman. It has always been a blast putting this much time and effort into monster carp. Carp on my friends.
