Awesome event. Caught my second biggest common (24-3/4#) and my son caught his first buff, which at 30-3/4# blew my PB buffalo out of the water! He's already talking about going next year.

Hat's off to you Neil!

That pic is as close as your getting to my trophy! Zach I'm going to try and look at my 34-12 and enlarge it. The back and tail are look very similar to your 35 or if Neil could post the length and girth of each. Wouldn't that be cool if they were the same fish.

Had a great time at my first ATC. The commitee did a great job with it and I am thankful to all the Texans for giving me a few tips on how to fish Lady Bird Lake.

Again my hats off to Neil for organizing this shin-dig. No one else could put together a tournament of this caliber living 4 hours away. Thanks also to all the volunteers who made it possible.

The corn boil was fun and I was glad to put faces to some of the names I'd seen on the forum. A better bunch of guys you'll never meet. And the Hooter Girls weren't bad either.

Fishing was good, about what I expected from Town Lake this time of year. My son and I caught three, including his first buff at 30 pounds which left my PB in the dust. Chris also managed to catch a decent fish from the "Dead Zone", which that in itself was a miracle given the buoys and all.

Second day we drew the Gazebo Swim, which I had never been to before. Before the first hour and a half was up, we had managed to bank a 24-3/4# common and his buff. But that was all she wrote. A couple of runs during the day, but nothing on the bank. Scenery though was beautiful and the view was spectacular on the end of a long peninsula.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. Will I do it again? Hopefully, if I can persuade my lovely wife to let me go again. When I leave, she has to run our print shop by herself, which isn't easy. Maybe next time I'll talk her into shutting down and going with me...

Tracy Jourdan and I caught three small recordable fish by 10:00 a.m. on Friday from peg 2 (The Rocks) and then blanked at "dead zone and buoy-filled" peg 15 on Saturday, resulting in a middle-of-the-pack finish (9th at 57 lbs., 3 oz.).

Nevertheless, we had a great time and want to, once again, thank Dr. Stern and his committee for an excellent tournament and congratulate Bubba and Rick (1st), Mike and August (2nd), fellow Illinoisans Cory and Zach (3rd), Zach (35-9 big fish), and Brid (51+ big buff)! Well done, gentlemen!

In addition, Tracy caught a 37-8 pb grasser in the first 20 minutes of the tournament on Friday, but it mysteriously slipped off the mat back into Ladybird Lake before we had a chance to "call it in." ;) Tracy may have a pic of his grass carp that he will share on this thread.

It's a great event, and we met some wonderful people. I hope to return next year.--Frank Rink
