2014 CCC Venue & Host Discussion

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

The BOD would like to open up a discussion topic as to where you would like to see the 2014 CCC take place.

We are also very interested in if anyone would like to host the 2014 CCC or help with the organizational duties.

If there is anyone with interest in hosting or helping, please post within this thread or contact the BOD at cagstaff@carpanglersgroup.com I'm also always available for a phone chat, pm or email.

Ok all, March 1st will be the deadline for proposals to host the 2014 CCC.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

This isn't much help to the CAG BoD, but I'd be open to going just about anywhere. The key to all this isn't as much finding a place where fish in quantity and of quality can be caught in a pleasant setting as it is finding CAG members in the locale willing to handle some of the organizational aspects of the event. I look forward to a final decision.

Its been several years since I've fished it but, Fellows Lake we held the CAGI 10 years ago in Springfield, MO that should work. Lots of bank access and its a day only venue both numbers and quality fish were caught . Obviously you'd have Bass Pro and a few other close destinations including Branson MO. Not volunteering.... just throwing it out as an optional destination option for next year or down the road.

It's centrally located and you'd probably be safe moving the dates back to the end of October there as well.

Bringing this back too the top... Don't want to take away from the ATCHISON, just trying to set the calendar for 2014. Any ideals yet....

The CCC traditionally falls on the last weekend in September so the dates at the moment are September 26th-28th, but we do not have a venue yet or organizers so this may change.

Better ask the Brits where they want it.

It doesn't have to be a Director or a State Chair or a Bait and Tackle - a CAG member with organizational skills can take the lead on the CCC!

Ever been to a venue and thought, "this would be a great place for a tournament!". Lets hear some ideas on a good location with accessible bank space for 60 to 80 anglers (average) or more.

Wouldn't mind seeing the CCC as more of a fun get together rather than the overly competative......big fish event. Make it cheap and do-able for the whole weekend without having to find expensive lodging or moving around......couple ideas.

Could do Dixon, Illinois. The Rock River. Easy to set up, City would be helpful, can all be done easy. Everyone will catch fish. Free Camping for the weekend is possible.

Credit Island in Davenport Iowa on the Mississippi. Room for 150 plus, easy access with a perimeter road, close to hotels, might be able to arrange free camping. Possibility of working a deal with the Casino/hotel for packages and even fishing from the levy through town instead

Maybe some multi-species fun, Wisconsin River, Wisconsin Dells. Decent bank space, may need to arrange shuttle pontoons to spread everyone out. Big Fast Water Carp, Flathead Catfish to 40#, Monster Suckers 10#+, and Oh yah.....Sturgeon up to 7'. Catch and release season is till the third week of September. Everything could be arranged right out of one location. Hotels rooms, cabins and Log Townhouses that can sleep up to 15 $69-$149 a night, before working a package deal for the food, meeting place, etc. Its a fishing resort but the main season ends on Labor Day and the town empties out. Restraunt, Bar, Public, Boat Launch, Boat rentals (most use the boats to move up and down river to fish from shore) on staff guide that could help with the ferrying of anglers. They can handle the catering right there......it's where the locals eat. Stuff for the wife and kids to do, water parks, rides, etc!!! If moved to mid September (second or third week), I may be able to get some help from Lee on this one. End of the month is the world championships and he and some of the others will be gone. Also weather will be better.......there is sand......

***Honestly, I'd rather do this than GO to the CCC, Was my once a year trip for a decade until I started going CAG events, I am a little hesitent to give it out cause i really don't want to have my Favorite fishing Trip turned into "Competative Event", but if people want to have fun.....!

Kenosha, Wisconsin. Lake michigan venue, nice town, easy access, chance of 30's. Would be better suited for August to avoid the salmon anglers.

Ooh. Multispecies on the Wisconsin River would be great!

If not for CCC then just for fun!

It would give me a reason to take the ferry across the Big Lake, too!
