An Unusual Mirror

Recommended Posts

Today I landed one of the most unusual mirrors I have ever seen or caught. I catch about 500 mirror carp a year here in RI (yes, we are loaded with them) but this one was unique.

First off, it had smooth skin on its body for the most part. That skin was a BLACK color (have seen brown, golden, light colors but never black). The head was also unique as it had splotchy colors like gold, brown, gray and black. The head looked like what you would see on a ghost carp but it also had some big scales. The underbelly was a light golden and yellow/brown color that had beautiful gold scales. The bottom fins and tail were a beautiful orange color, also unique. The fish was on the small side running 4-5 lbs.

Just wondering if anyone out there has ever seen a mirror like this.

Maybe a little koi in its family. Definitely cool looking.

Never seen a fish like that! That's a beauty.

PS. I did catch a big mirror with black skin though - you know where...
