A couple of years ago, we bought a folding canopy- 12X12.  This was originally used for the grandsons' baseball games.  We could adjust the legs so it would fit over some styles of bleachers.  Now it is a regular part of the carp kit that goes in the van.  Wouldn't be without it.  Good luck with the tourney!  Used to go to Joliet 2 or 3 times a year on business.  Carping wasn't on my mind.  If I still went to Joliet on business, I could stay over, fish the tourney and deduct the expenses through Friday night.  Oh, well.

This one is about an hour and a half west of Joliet, John, but you are welcome no matter where we hold an event in Illinois. --Frank

July 23 "Dog Days of Summer" Tournament postponed until August 27 due to high/dangerous temperatures!

We welcome Tony Donato to the July 23 "Dog Days of Summer and I Hope there's Enough Room" Tournament at Kewanee, IL!  Thank you, Tony!  :yourock:
IMAG0550.jpg

I apologize if I scared anyone away with a July 23 forecast for hot, hot weather at Kewanee, IL.  Any weather prediction over a few days prior is a guess (albeit an educated guess), anyway.  The forecast has already shifted with a call for a high of 85° - a 12° decrease in just 24 hours.  Maybe we'll catch a fish or two after all.  Good luck!  Don't forget keepsacks.  If I don't weigh your fish, it/they doesn't/don't count. --Frank

Current participants:
1.  Larry Seeman
2.  Frank Rink
3.  Alfonso Chavez Ramirez
4.  Feucho Aguilita González
5.  Jimmy Makkanas Ramirez
6.  Cory Bohmann
7.  Jim Snyder
8.  Dave Marceau
9.  Cory Bohmann, Jr.
10. Chris Reitan
11. Grahame Johnston
12. James Kraft
13. Brett Du Preez
14. Fred Rhodes
15. Eddie Cobb
16. Dan Hale
17.  Paul Hennenfent
18.  Bobby Hennenfent
19.  Chad Bettisch
20.  Tracy Jourdan

21.  Srdjan Gazivoda
22.  Zeljko Gazdic
23.  Tihomir Apcir
24.  Tony Donato

I only hope there is enough room for everyone.  With the warmer weather, my guess would be that most of us will want to fish at the northeast, deeper portion of the lake.

p.s.  Robert Kraft--Considering the change in the forecast, you're most welcome to re-up if you wish.

Thanks for the invite but a bit out of the way for me right now.  Wife is retiring the end of this month.  I'm going to take her carping and see if I can get her hooked (no pun intended) with carping.  She loves to fish for catfish= heave it and leave it.  Then........maybe do some fishing in some of the out of state venues.

July 23 "Dog Days of Summer" Tournament postponed until August 27 due to high/dangerous temperatures!

Uh-oh!  The July 23 forecast for Kewanee, IL is back up to 95°.  I'll try to get out there in mid-week to scout some locations (since we'll need 20-24), and to see if the fish are actually biting.

Don't forget that IDNR requires everyone to sign a liability waiver (parents sign if a participant is under 18).  I'll have the necessary documents at peg choice, so try to get there a little earlier than 6:15 a.m.  Thanks.  Six days remaining.  Good luck!

Hi Frank,

I am in agreement with your wanting to weigh in all fish caught on the one set of scales, thus ensuring that fairness is assured. The only apprehension that I have, is that perhaps not all competitors will have suitable 'Keep Sacks', especially as this is a big three event. With the temperatures as high as forecast, those lucky enough to catch three fish,  are going to find it hard to care for them, more so if they are caught earlier on.

With cooler temperatures, this would ordinarily not present so much of a problem, but as it appears that unusually high temperatures are scheduled for the day of the tournament, perhaps  a re-think should be considered, after all ' CARP LIVES MATTER'.

July 23 "Dog Days of Summer" Tournament postponed until August 27 due to high/dangerous temperatures!

It's a valid concern, Grahame, and one that was also shared with me by Chris.    Thanks.

In fact, and speaking of the well-being of both fish and fishermen, I am postponing the event until August 27 due to the forecast for July 23 high temperatures of 95° with a "real feel" of 115° and in view of IDNR tournament approval timelines.

Same rules and awards will apply on August 27.  Sign up here if interested.  Thanks.--Frank

That was my next question, talk about fast you answered it before I even asked. About the permit. I just want to be legal and all.

Thanks again for your extremely fast answer to my question.
