Spring Big 4 2020 - Cancelled

Recommended Posts

The Board of Directors have discussed the impact COVID19 is having on our lives. As many States have issued Lock Down or Shelter in Place orders it has been decided to cancel the Spring 2020 Big 4 Tournament.

If you would like a refund please let me know by Saturday, March 28th (5:00PM EST) so we may begin to process them. If I don't hear from you I will assume you would like me to transfer your payment as an entry to the 2020 Fall Big 4 Tournament.

We have decided to raffle off a few prizes for those who choose to transfer registration fees to the Fall Big 4. First prize: A PinPoint Hook sharpening Kit (valued at $65) Second and Third prizes: A Signed copy of In Pursuit of Carpiness II DVD (Valued at $20).

Stay tuned as we are cooking up a new contest to begin (hopefully) at the beginning of April.

Stay Healthy and Happy!

CAG Events Director

I am certainly 100% in favor of doing anything that will slow down the spread of corona, ....but don't go fishing??   I can't think of any activity that is more self isolating.  You aren't even near your family members.  I hope to get time out fishing in the next month, or however long.  It may be the only activity I can do where I can have absolutely no contact with anyone, or, god forbid, endanger anyone else.   Not to mention keeping some sanity & calm in the midst of all this.

Here in kansas City, we are also "locked down" but it doesn't mean you cant go out and fish, which Ive done the last 2 days, flyrodding for bluegill and crappie, then catching two carp yesterday. Most things closed, but as long as you keep social distancing, you can go outside to parks, etc.......

Stay healthy regardless. We will get through this!

Well- for what its worth-

11-8 and 7-2 as my first (and evidently only :() CAG Big Four Spring 2020)........was so looking forward to it!......If Kansas is voted as National Champion ( and they shouldn't) then I make my pitch for CAG winner! (and I shouldn't :) :) :) just kidding :)  ).............go fishing!- it'll truly bring solace and context to the world! While I was fishing, I watched 5 bluejays harass and be harassed by a sharp-shinned hawk- the acrobatics were indescribable!...........very peaceful!!........

Yes, too bad that Big 4 was cancelled. But, I can understand the difficulties that fishermen face in many areas of the country.

Here in the northeast we are basically in a lock down.  Only travel by car to supermarkets and pharmacies. All state and local parks (where there are lots of lakes and rivers) are closed in RI. No travel out of state.

However, I am lucky enough to live walking distance to some pretty good carp waters that hold good numbers of beautiful mirrors. These places are woodsy spots with no one around which is good. So, my fishing continues, though very local and limited.

Below is a photo of a mirror that was coming to the net last evening.

Stay safe everyone and hope you can still get out fishing locally in your area.20200327_184832_2(1) (640x417).jpg
