Savayman Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 The event will run from Saturday the 6th of june until Sunday the 7th of june. 48 hours in which we will try to catch the biggest carp or Buff in weight using only conventional float fishing techniques. The official rules are as follows: the competition will run from saturday 6/6 at midnight until 6/7 at midnight. A full 48 hours You will attempt to catch the biggest possible Carp or Buff using ONLY float fishing techniques The goal is to catch a carp on a single baited hook fished below a float (bobber) as the only means of bite detection. No hair or other hook rigs just bait impaled on a single hook attached to monofilament line suspended below a float / bobber. The float can be fixed or running to allow for depth and its buoyancy managed by a series of shot attached to the line. Sweetcorn, chick peas, hominy or other particles as well as bread flake or paste would be classic examples of baits that could be used to catch carp when float fishing. Other baits will be allowed as long as they are fished in the above mentioned manner. Any submission will be posted to this thread to be considered. Your photo submission will contain the carp that was caught as well as your float rig. All in one and the same picture. Any deviation will not be admissable. There will also be a side competition for the single best picture of your float fishing "essence of carping", just like the ongoing competition we are all familiar with. Prizes: First: $100 Big Carp Tackle Voucher Second: $50 Big Carp Tackle Voucher Third: $25 Big Carp Tackle Voucher Best Photo Award: This will be given to the photo that best depicts the fun of float fishing for carp. This competition will be open to both members and non members of the CAG. Please bear in mind that only members can claim the cash/ voucher prizes but you will be allowed to represent a non CAG member within your party. 5 biggest non member submissions will earn a free 1 year CAG membership. The Carp Anglers Group is encouraging anyone who is willing to participate to give this a serious shot. Take out friends and family and introduce them to the wonderful world of Carp Fishing. Catching Carp on the float is an old, tried and tested technique that is accessible to anyone and everyone and it is a fun, active way of catching this magnificent fish. Let us all have fun for these two days and attempt to promote this awesome sport to anyone around us! Here's an example of a photo showing the fish and the float rig: Quote
