Hello fellow carpers. We fished another scorcher this past sunday. Blue skies, sunny, and high humidity equal a tough session. My truck read 94 degrees for the event. The breeze we did have was very welcome relief. This venue is different from the first in that it is VERY weedy. If you can figure out the open lanes between the weed islands, there are awesome fish available. Those that figured it out did well. The day started slowly while the guys worked through their baits that would tempt the fish to bite. As the day went on more fish were brought to the net. Since I'm running the league this year and not fishing, I'm not going to miss out. I fished the day before when marking peg spacing. Fished 4 hours in an unpegged area so i didn't mess with the venue. 10 fish with 1 well over 20lbs.(no scale with me). Andy B. of Team Polonia figured out the BIG fish bite with a nice 26-5 for the big fish of the day. Fish totals slowly acculmulated until the final last hour push. There were 3 fish hooked in the last 5 minutes and Marcin also of Team Polonia yelled "fish on" with 1 minute left on the clock. Rules allow you a 15 minute extension to land the fish but it must not be touching the water when the extension expires . His and the league's last fish of the day almost caught Andy with a 25-12. In those last 5 minutes the lead changed among the sections and total weights for the day. Marcin finished with the highest total weight for the day at 161lbs. Thanks guys for dealing with another tough Chicago day. Next month we fish BIG water up north at the CCC venue. We fish a wide variety of water to really test one's carping ability. Here's a few pictures. see you next month. later
