Good morning fellas. My wife and I are planning to down-size our home and particularly our lot. A purchase and sale agreement may be in our very near future--like maybe next week. We would then be on a tight time line to get moved and get this house sold. I was thinking I may not have time to tie many flies if all of this unfolds as hoped. So that I was sure to follow through with my contribution I got up at 3:30 this morning and tied flies just for this fly swap. Is that commitment or what!
Definitely! And I for one thank you tremendously. You are the man!

Just last week there was a 72 year old man who went through the ice at Lake Ontelaunee and drowned. The ice could not have been more than 2 inches thick and the only part of the lake with ice was a small cove. Quite trajic. I'm with Scott on this one, if the ice is not at least 4-6 inches thick I'm not going. When I do go I also wear a PFD. Knock on wood I have never fallen through the ice, but I have slipped down the river bank and fallen in with air temps in the low 20's. Brrrr!

the boilie fly is cool but how would you even fish that? cast and wait?
Mostly carp fishing with the fly rod is a sight fishing thing. So while casting to fish you are watching, the "wait" or sometimes unfortunately the pass up of a fly is not long. Sometimes the longest period of time is spent finding the feeding fish.

JMHO there Jake, but to me part of the joy and satisfaction of fly fishing is creating your own "master pieces" to try to fool the fish you are after. This usually equates to saving money in the long run. Yes, $0.69 per fly may be a good price when that is all you look at, but do not forget to add the shipping cost in there as well. Do not also forget that if you are planning on fishing a certain date and your order comes in with the pattern that you really wanted to try is now back ordered. Just some food for thought.

Yes, welcome to our forum. The people here you will find are very eager to be of assistance to you. I have never fished in Wisconsin, but I would venture to say that there are probably some huge carp in that state. There are some lakes here in Pennsylvania where the muskies forage on the small carp. These lakes hold a pretty healthy population of larger carp. Hopefully someone can point you in the right direction. Again, welcome!
