Nice story Brian. Fishing with my dad is one of my best memories from my youth. Fishing with him today is more challenging, but still fun.

Mario,
I think it is great your wife fishes with you. When you have kids, the young years are tough to fish. I do have one buddy who showed me a picture of his wife landing a fish with their baby strapped to her chest. That is a dedicated wife.

Blondie,
To be a real carp angler you need to dress is camo. At least that is what all my English carp buddies tell me!

What kind of tripod is that you use?

Great pics!

Speaking from experience, without doubt my favorite fishing partner is the missus
It took me nearly 2 years to get her to pick a carp rod up again, she did it on a recent road trip, and performed as though she was never away from the sport.
She makes a mean meal when we are fishing too.

Are you keeping your wife a secret here with this picture?

Ahh....I remember my first one ....Kingston, TN, Spring Event
And I remember the look on your face!

Welcome Nikki. I think it is great to see more women involved here. If your husband is like me I am sure he is real happy you fish with him.

Looks like Grampi and I will meet up again in the coming weeks to see how we do during a fall session.
I hope to get some great results and will be making a "special bait" just for this occasion. The special bait will be mayo bread balls with a hint of coconut and cinammon that are rolled and kept in a syrup to harden like a boilie.
I hope to get him into some mirror carp and maybe another 20+ pounder.
Will post up results after our session........
Thanks,
Andy
Your a very kind man and a great example for CAG members to follow.

My advice is learn everything you can on this forum and apply it as often as you can. Big fish will come.

Great story Steve, and a nice fish. Here in sunny Georgia it usually hot and humid all summer. I try to do like you did. Find a nice spot under a tree.

It is a pretty cool place and they are great fish to catch too.
Keith,
Do you fish for them much? I never did when I lived in CA. I hear they a tough to catch.

Nice fish.

I know Peter Struffenegger and have been to his plants in CA many time. Before my company was sold we supplied him liquid oxygen that allows him to have so many fish in a tank. They have another farm as well with much larger sturgeon. The largest that they harvested was over 200lbs. The ones that you show in the picture are raised as food for the market. It is amazing to see.

Nice job Horace.

Know a fishing guide in Alabama; asked him one evening last winter about good places to fish for carp in Alabama, he said (after he stopped laughing; no one had ever aked him that) that the carp in Lake Guntersville are MUCH bigger than he has seen in other lakes in the state.
Guntersville does have big carp. It is a tough place to find bank space to fish though. Big grass carp are there, but most that I know of have been taken by non fishing rod methods. ( How is that for PC?)

Steve,
I enjoy having you as a member here. You have a great enjoyment for carp fishing and I get a kick out of your posts. You have a unique way with the english language. You should write a book.

What is a pastie? I thought that is something strippers use in some states.
