GUY 2: ok but hold my sign i dont want to lose it!

sound familiar? B)B) still nice fish!!!!

If it's thick enough for you and Horace, I know I'm okay. B) I'll stand on the bank and watch for awhile though. B)

  2. Wow Kent,

I'd say those fish surely contributed to taking your mind off the past election!! B)

Those Venture Baits sure seem to be doing the trick on that water.....very nice.

I am very impressed with many of the baits I have tried so far.

This fall, the raspberry ripple flavored baits have been amazing for me. It has caught for me when nothing else did.

  3. After watching the election coverage and seeing my beloved country, elect what I believe is a socialist/Marxist into office I was gutted once again, but this time for my country. I could not sleep, not that I do much of that anyway. After laying in bed for and hour or two thinking about all this political crap I decided I needed to take my mind off of this topic. I have a lot of vacation time left and I decided that I was going to go fishing right then. I wake my wife up and told here I was leaving and was going fishing. She looked at me and said, “Have fun.” So I got up and got all my gear together and was out the door in no time. I decided to head back to the “Hump Swim” where I had much success last weekend.

I arrived in the middle of the night. I have no idea what time it was. I loaded all my gear onto a pack mule named, Kent, and started the long walk to the swim. I run 5-6 miles 5 days a week and I was still dying getting to the swim. As I get to the swim I am stripping of my jacket because I am sweating like a pig even though it is very cold out.

I get everything set up and the rods are in the water. I couldn’t help but notice what a beautify night out it was. The stars were really out and I was in the middle of nowhere by myself. If there is peace in this world, I found it. I thanked God for letting me find this slice of heaven.

If you recall from my first story this is the mother of all snaggy swims. I got snagged on one rod within minutes of casting out and lost everything. I was hoping to get away with loosing less than $75 worth of terminal tackle this time, but things weren’t looking to good!

After a while, I have no idea how long, because I refused to look at my watch, I got my first run. As I played the fish I did not think it was too big at first. I actually thought it was a buff but as I worked the fish toward shore, I don’t think it realized it was hooked. Soon a dramatic change in the fish’s attitude came and the fight was on. I worked hard to keep it out of the 8 major snags I knew of and finally got her to the net. As I looked into the net with my head torch on, I thought that is a good fish. After getting it on the mat and getting a weight on her, she missed being 40 by 10 ounces. She was 39lbs 6oz. The thing that was scary is that the fish I lost trying to scoop it up it my weigh sling the other day, made this one look small. What a first fish for this session. I looked up to the stars, and said thank you.

After efforts by me to take my own picture, something I stink at, I got her back in the water. I was pumped up and hope for more like her.

Sometime later I got another run and it went right to a snag. I lost that fish when my 80 snag leader was sliced like butter. Soon after I had some other runs and landed some low 20’s. I hate to say it but I was disappointed and wanted only 30’s and up!

The sun was now up and I had caught several fish and lost quite a few others. It seems with how snaggy this place is the ratio of hooked to landed is about 1 fish landed for every 2 hooked.

I decided to try switching to boilies. I have been testing Venture Baits raspberry ripple corn with some amazing success lately and switched one of my rods to a Venture Baits Pineapple boilie.

In what seemed like no time I had a major fish on this rod. It took off and was peeling line off my reel at a high pace. I found myself running down the bank trying to keep this fish out of the snags. After I get this fish towards the bank I notice it was a long carp, but once again I have no net! So I work my way back up the bank and manage to get my net and land the fish, a 35lb 2oz common. I’m stoked!

More runs came with mid to upper twenties and many lost fish to snags. I did hook into two massive other fish in this time, but they found a 9th snag for me. I was so disappointed for loosing what were probably big 30lb+ fish.

Things slowed down a little and I found myself changing all the terminal tackle on my rods. I ran out of just about everything once again. While changing one of my other rods over I got a strong bump on the rod and then nothing else. I picked up the rod to reel in some slack line and can feel a fish. I set the hook and the fight is on. This is a strong fish and his heading straight out. The battle with this fish was amazing. The strength and power of big wild carp is amazing. The battle to stay out of snags was on and I finally got her in the net. A cracking 36lb 2oz carp was on the mat. What a beauty she was.

So far in this session I landed 3 – 30’s and lost a probable 3 others. I also landed many 20’s and a couple of buffs.

Things slowed and I was packing up, but leaving my net for last! I ended up getting another run and it was a big fish again. I fought her for all I could. Sweat was dripping off my face and I was gaining on her. As I got her close to shore, I still had not seen her. She then makes one final burst and heads directly into a snag number 7. I am now screwed and there is nothing I can do. I lost her.

Dejected I pack everything up for the long hump back to the car. I think about this day and what started me coming here. I think of all the wonderful carp I caught on this day and I am well pleased. With all my gear packed on my back, I look to the sky once again and say thanks, I really needed that.
