yo is that pete? man you never got back to me about doing a session on long island I had the sample bait's for ya lol enjoy the site bro and see ya on the water. welcome!

Long island is very weird. Unless you have "connections" on spot's, you are lucky to catch a 10lb carp. I know some will say stop complaining, but I don't always feel like taking my gear and having to drive 2 hrs to catch fish. so I have to make due of what I have or we have here on long island. But, I wouldn't want to live in any other place strong island!!!
If you think pay laking is bad, with people competing againts each other right on top of you, ill take you to a few lake's here on long island, where you have 15 CARP KILLERS aka meat eater's, fishing in one spot, taking home all the carp and us CAG member's are right in the middle of that. Lined up with a million salt water fishing rod's.
All you see on the shore's of these lake's are left over cornmeal doughballs, and del monte sweet corn can's thrown all over the place after they hammered the lake's.
Now that I know where ROB caught that fish, I am even more impressed. Don't bother sending me an email on where it is though hahaha.

Good job rod!
You mean to tell me, there are carp on long island??? That's a lie!!! haha
-
rob that is awesome! Good time's. I haven't been on much but hope to start fishing this spring.
Long island!!!

You can "toughen up" canned corn to help it stay on the hook or hair. Easy way to do this is to put a packet of koolaid into the can of corn and let it set in the fridge overnight. There are many other ways of doing it, some of which don't necessarily introduce strong flavors.
so you just open the can of corn, with the water still inside and throw in a package of kool aid?
-
Here is the thing.
I went to my local grocery store and picked up a bag of frozen sweet corn. when it defrosts, it become's soft again. Is there a specific brand or kind to buy?
-
I think this calls for another experiment lol.
I read somewhere, I believe in england?? Not sure, a 47lb carp was caught on sweet corn.
since we are all talking about how sweet corn come's off easily, I would fish sweet corn straight on the hook and not on the hair. I think, it will stay on the hook a bit better. What are your thought's on this? brid, phone?
-
phone.
I have caught on maize and sweet corn. But maybe it is in my head as well, I feel sweet corn will catch instantly on certain water's. I could be wrong? I also believe that, if you boil your maize it will be more attractive than just soaking it.
I know some guys just soak there maize. I like to cook mine, as it releases the natural sugars and safer for the fish
-
nice stories guys!!! some good reading. Love the pics.
Holding that carp by the gills kinda scared me lol.
-
Good stories guy's. It's nice to look back at all the good time's we had while fishing, especially with friend's.
Mike, that is a big boy right there!! I still have to drag my @ss back there.
ed, I remember that. I too fell that day, landing a fish for nigel. I stepped on one of those big rock's, and it was wet. Took a nice damn spill.
I wanted to thank everyone, especially ed wagner, for getting me started in this club and meeting everyone. I won't forget
