  1. Let's hear some stories and pics. Mine was back in 06 I believe, when ed wagner invited me to the cddw event. This was my first ever CAG event where we had to stay overnight. I remember the night before I couldn't sleep at all. Too excited. I remember driving to ed's house and arrived at 3:30 am!! haha I gave him a call and he was like, " holy crap your here already?" and started laughing.

Arriving at the destination, I met mike for the first time. Miguel was there and the rest were in there swim. I see a boat coming towards us at the ramp and it was nigel. I finally met him and was a pleasure talking to him. I saw val as well, nice to see him also, tom, fran, etc.

We finally got to our swim. ed and I were haulin all this gear through the woods, over stumps, and slippery ground. what a hike! But it was fun. Mike was on the right of us and it was a blast talking and shooting the $hit with him. Quid used to make his rounds and he would sit back and and bs with us as well. This was my first time with all these guy's and they made me feel like I was part of the gang already. In the wood's, carp fishing, with great guy's, I was in a state of peace and I forgot about all my problem's.

Im so used to long island fishing where, people just come up to you and harass you, total carp population of 10 fish per lake, and no privacy.

We managed to catch one fish each in our swim. It was a tough spot. My first run was at night time. ed's run was at like 430 5am. Running out of the bivvy half sleeping landing a fish. what a rush!!

Next day, they told me to move swims and fish with nigel. I got a chance to fish with the legend!! Nigel was nice enough to put me in his swim, right next to him. I set up and watched him just catch one carp after the next. If something wasn't working, he would sit back and reconfigure everything and start haulin again.

I managed to bag a 20lber and lost two fish with nigel. I got a lesson or two in carpfishing that day lol. Mike dragone was nice enough to rush over and give me a hand with the 20lb carp. we were kinda on a small hill so it was hard to land them.

The place, the people, the scenery, it was all amazing, and I was able to catch carp in a place that I have never been to before. The cddw event was great and that was the best time I have ever had carp fishing. I hope to do it again sometime

  2. I fish a similar pond, where the carp are on top.

I float fish tht pond, and rig the bread in a way where, it floats and decends VERY VERY SLOWELY. Every cast, I nailed them that way, when they were on top.

I caught a total of 14 carp in one hr. I even took a few breaks and relaxed or else I would have caught more. sizes varied from 8-20lbs

  3. I am not a fan of using those salt water leads. I like everything to be discreet and blend in with the lake bed.

sweet corn on a hair is ok if you are fishing extremely short range. Maize is ideal for long range, but you can also sandwich a few kernels of sweet corn between the maize
