  1. Bobs the man. Well said my friend. I really need to start buying some CAG shirts and wearing them when I fish. Just waiting for them to make the logo in back of the shirt.

I fished a place here where a lot of people walk around the lake. I made a simple shirt that said team Long Island carp fishing. I was shocked how many anglers and people asked about it. Something so simple can engage a conversation. Once I get there attention I do my best to teach them about the sport of carp fishing and the importance of catch and release.

  2. I fish for trout sometimes. and when I go to italy, I target other fresh water species. But I am dedicated to carp fishing. Its an obsession. I have the proper landing net, mat, sling, etc. This doesn't go just for carp, but all species I catch. IMO, a fish should be returned into the water how it came out. Because I love this sport so much, I do want the best treatment for the fish. Thats just me.

Another reason why I care so much, is, here on long island, we get the meat eaters that show up, catch carp, and they start to crack them over the head and REMOVE THE SCALES of the fish with a knife right in front of you and put them in a bag. small big it doesnt matter. They literally destroyed 80% percent of the lakes on long island. so because of that, I am extra protective. I know some guys who were CAG members actually give up carp fishing bc how bad it is on long island.

Look at the bright side. They released the fish and did not kill them. That is a huge plus

  3. start off simple. Dont get caught up in anything fancy yet. There are so many baits, methods in carp fishing that if you start to look at it all at once, it will just be too much. I do recommend you watch brians youtube channel. accordbw. click his link and start watching. he has the best how to video's and very easy to follow and learn. I have been carp fishing for a very very long time and I still learn from brians videos

  4. I can tell you here on Long Island 20lb carp are not abundant. If you can catch a mid 20 or 30, that's equivalent of you catching a 40 to 50 lb in another state or in upstate. When I fished in other states, first time at the swim, boom, 20 something lbs. I'm like wow, so this is real fishing. And I'm not even trying 100. % like I do here on Long Island. Which I think made me a better angler bc of how little carp we have here.

We have to many carp killers here on Long Island. They don't give the lake a chance to produce anything big or have a decent head of big fish. Scratch the island off the list lol. I wish CAG had the influence to change these carp killings on the island and everywhere else.

  5. Brian W. has a great video about his version of the Miele Bomb. He uses an old vintage meat grinder to process the maize and then uses that for the bomb. It looks like a good idea, although I have not tried it yet.

I'm going to play around with it. Anglers used this in Italy. But I'm going to alter it. Like I suspected and confirmed by brisn, it's best used when made at the bank. I'm not bringing a meat grinder to the lake. Since I have an obsession with ground bait and pack, I am going to come up with my own version of the Mielie bomb

  6. One more thing I wanted to say. when I make my pack bait or ground bait, I don't put my flavor in the water or in the cream corn. I use spray bottles and give a quick shot right on the ball itself just like the video. This way I am not stuck with one flavor and I can test to see what flavor works better.

  7. I dont care if I look like an idiot when I have a double run. Happens very often here on the hudson. Robm and I had a session like that couple of years ago. we had 2 to 3 fish at once sometimes during our session. Now that was insane. I told rob that day, if this was a tournament, we would have taken home the prize. It came to a point that we both had to stop fishing and took an hr break. we just lounged on our bed chairs and laughed.
