  1. The Bay is full of Fish this time of the year & finding them should not be too heard. If you have the time I would go to SBI & if you can stay clear of the cold beer & loose Women you'll find some great fishing in front of monument point or the pier on the faces Rattlesnake -just bring all the soft craws you can afford

  2. Gain acceptance of Carp as a sport-fish.. Every person who came by were astounded by the toughness & fight of these small Fish

assist others & encourage them to join us..Every contact was offered the CAG philosophy & nearly all were receptive

treat Carp with respect, promote catch & release of trophy fish..All Fish were processed & used as a renewable resource from the Lake,Our group made the choice that anything 2o & above is released directly & was public knowledge.

I was part of this tournament & felt it was a sucess - A Lake community attracted attention to how desporate the situation is & used Carp as a tool to get people envolved - Officials understand that removing Carp are not the only answer to improving water quality & only a small component of the whole picture.

  3. Ya know in the two days we have been fishing here we have only seen 1 person on the walking path & he was too busy walking his Dog to even notice us fishing.

We hit the "ghetto swim" againe today & the Buffalo were on our feed thick as the day before & the catching continued where we left off yesterday with Beef catching his first mirror scence starting Carping with me only a few weeks ago. Some guys have all the luck. :)

  4. My brother has been telling me how he's got a section of the River that is full of Carp & that I had to fish it - Needless to say I have been less than excited to try this place simply because to fish here you'll have to go through some of the toughest hood of down town Columbus (where he lives). So today was the day I decided to give it a try & envited another of my Carper friends to join us - after feeding up the swim we wasted little time in putting Fish on the mat but unfortunately it was mostly smaller Buffalo that kept the alarms chirpping all day. We still managed some respectable Carp & every Fish that we cought were healthy n fat with stunning oranges & gold in color. So it looks that the "ghetto swim" will get a second chance.

  5. With the great weather we had here in Columbus today it was nice to be able to host our good friend River Rick from Hamilton,Ohio at our new venue for a chance at some mirrors & real tank sized commons. Well as you can see he did not need much of an intro to were to start with a solid common on the mat before the sun was all the way up.

Then not to be out done Andy cought a sweet looking mirror that none of us have seen before & have high hopes for this guy when he starts packing on the pounds in a few years because he was a real scrapper.

Rick was only getting started with the commons, all were in great spawn condition with plenty of weight, bright Gold scales & wide powerfull tails. A bulk of his catch came from the deep weed lines at range so none were push overs on the rod includeing this thick lip freak.

As the afternoon wore on Rick was a great guest by catching the Fish we invited him up to catch  and to show how much fun he had managed to catch his first Isralli phase mirror Carp - what a lump! :yourock:

Well pictures will tell it better than I can so enjoy

  6. I am on a kick with a simple method mix that lends it's self to River fishing grear in all flow conditions.

Most of my Rivers & Creeks get full of plants close to wood so a flat method lead is key with short hook links.

The mix comes from the K-1 baits site

    4# cracked corn

    2# roller oats

    1/2 gallon boiling water

(add water to corn & 1/2 oats in a sealed bucket 20 mins - then add rest of oats to pack as you like)

I also grind some oats to powder just when I need to stiffen the mix up

Flavor is what ever you have faith in - Buffalo also love it

  7. Phone are you kidding ? I mean no disrespect but being from an aquaculture background I have had Butterfly' that were pushing 20 pounds & 30" fins do get sloppy at that size though. I also have had Ogens that were 30 pounds during spawn in indoor vats.

  8. I had a great meeting of a fellow bank angler today that I just wanted to share from a public park. Yesterday as I made my chumming rounds on a public Lake I noticed an old fella' fishing close to one of my swims that I keep baited up & thought nothing of it. After I had launched a few spods of corn & method ball or two I could see that the old fella was a bit agrivated by all the comotion of my baiting within eye sight of him even if it was a hundred yards out in front. Well today I went to fish that swim and the old fella was fishing right were I had left him yesterday and Before I could ask "hows the fishen" the old fella stood from his chair with his wooden cain and in a gruff voice said "you the guy throwing all the corn in yesterday?" I have a bone to pick with you.. I gulped & as respectfully as I could said..um..um yes Sir. I thought to myself him being old enough to be my Grandfather how do you defend yourself to what you think is comming.. I then told him that I was chumming for Carp. He smiled real big and said well thank you because a few minutes after you threw all that corn in I cought 2 fat Channel Catfish & when they were in the net theye burped up the corn you were baiting with. I'm glad to see youngsters still fishing for Carp, They sure do pull don't they.. I just smiled & said they sure do.

  9. I have been fishing with 9' MH action Steelhead style spinning rods with no complaints yet. I also have cought some respectable Fish (upper 20's & big Buffalos) and have yet to feel out matched by a Fish. Most of my fishing consists of 1/2 - 2oz leads on hair rigged corn or boilies at short to medium range. The only problem I have is the weight of fishing method mix maxes out my rods.

I like how my shorter rods play Fish and how well I can bring Fish to the net by myself not to mention being able to fish tighter swims than guys with 13' rods.

So my question is this - are the longer 12' 3 TC Euro style rods all they are cracked up to be ?
