  1. Larry, I think it is great that someone is finally taking an interest is finding out how to improve the CAG. I was once a member and have considered rejoining several times, but each time I am ready to rejoin, CAG seems to do things that kills my spirit for rejoining. If you can show me some positive changes in the assication, I will gladly send in my membership fees.

  2. Why doesn't the hosting company do a full system back-up before installing any simple or critical software or package update to the system or notify you of pending changes so you can do a off schedule back-up. That way no data or minimal data would be lost. A few hours of lost data is much easier to digest than several days -- The hosting company knows well in advance to software or package updates. Any update is critical -- even simply changes can create problems at times.

  3. The June/July 2011 Outdoor Life Issue had two very nice articles on Carp Fishing. The first was on page 29 - talks about Terry Hearn from England and the Carp he has caught.

The second was on page 38 -- "You Don't Know Carp" -- It was a nice article outlining Carp, equipment, bait ,and etc. It also highlighted the up coming tournment in Septemter on the St. Llawrence River. If you can find a copy, take time to read and send a positive comment to Outdoor Life for finally writing a couple articles on Carp Fishing. I would hope if we could get enough individuals write to them -- maybe the would continue to write on Carp Fishing.

  5. Big Rik and I will continue to fish throughout the winter. As long as we have open water, we are generally there. The exception would be if one of us has to work, one of us is sick or one of us has a family obligation. Last year I think we fished all but about 3 weeks. That was due to complete ice cover on the places we fish. But, winter fishing hads to be ones personal preference. It does get a little cold at there at times. We have blanked a few times, but that wasn't often. We always have the kettle full of hot water, on the portable gas burner, for a cup of tea or coffee.

I think Knox Lake would be a good choice. It has a large population of Carp, just not certain what the size of them are. The Marina area, which you looked at on google, would definitely be good. People can fish back to back, still be close enough to socialize, but not to far from their equipment. I have talked to a couple individuals, in the past year, who said they landed a 30 pounder there, but didn't see any pics or anything else to verify -- just their word.

Kokosing is a nice place, but not sure how much bank space is available. I will take a trip to both lakes this week and look at the a few of the areas I have in mind. I have fished both places many times over the years, but it has just been me and the family -- not 10 or 20 ppl. Will let you know what I find -- there are a couple other possible places on the upper end of Knox that I will also check out while I an there.

  7. Well said Captain -- It is a shame to see all the bad comments posted by a few. This is a good forum and could be outsatnding if those few would only tone down their nasty comments. Not long ago, I read a thread about a young fellow and his outstanding catches and then all of a sudden the posts turned into a stone throwing and bashing contest. I thought what a shame that the praise for what a 16 yr old had caught had turned into. This must have made the young man feel bad, but also didn't look good for the members of the forum. They is no reason to air your personal petty grips on here, unless it is constructive. Make this a forum a place for the exchange of information, a place to talk about your experiences, a place to complement others on their accomplishments, and a place to discuss your catches or PB's. Have fun and enjoy

I love to catch Carp and always on the hunt for that next PB, but I think the best part of fishing is the fellowship I get from being there on the bank with a friend(s). If nothing more that just sitting there watching the Sun rise, the Sun setting or the Moon coming over the trees and anticipating that next big run.

  8. It is such a shame to see how some individuals waste the precious life given to them. One has to wonder why a person would do that to themselves, but it happens.

But them, it is very good that the two people fishing there were not harmed and were able to leave without incident. I know this memory will stay in their minds for quite sometime. One never knows anymore, when out fishing what you might encounter. Glad all turned out well for you two, the end result could have been worst -- two very innocent people could have been injuried. Thankfully they weren't!!!

  9. Well said edward

I find that several people on here are quick to find fault and not provide help. I wonder if this new member is now wondering why he joined and wondering if he will renew when renewal time comes around. I hope he remains a member for many years. People, please help those that aren't as knowledgeable as some of the rest of us are. I truly believe that we all started out without the knowledge we now possess and we all have made several mistakes along the way. Some of us still make mistakes. It should be those of us who know better or have the skills to TEACH those who are new to our style of Carp fishing. I know I learned from an individual who was very patient with me and helped to teach me the fine art of Carp Angling.

Help people -- Don't make them sorry that they came to the forum to ask a question -- encourage people to participate and remain members. I see many good answers and help, but at the same time, I see many that has to make the person posting wonder why he did and also may make them hesitate from posting again.
