  1. Carp state record for hook and line in MI is 45.0 pounds

    Andy

    Kev,

I can't wait to fish with you.....hope your gear gets here shortly.

Ford Lake will most certainly produce some quality fish for you.

We will have to hit the Detroit River as well.

See you Sat. if not sooner,

    Andy

Yeah ill come out Sat morning to say Hi,

I was looking at the Detroit river, looks as if its fed from lake st clair, It maybe a good fish, we will have to try It out, just give me a call. Should buy my reels tonight, rods next week, pod and net the week after...your record around feb :D

  2. Yeah Its great place but no money and no jobs, I used to work In a ladder making factory for 5 years before It moved up north, 300 of us out of work over night.

After a year out of work, I got a job In a slaughterhouse, killing lambs for tesco, 1500 aday, great money/crap job. Then came foot and mouth, and after a short spell working for the government (Killing the infected animals), that was me out of work again.

1 year latter, I was off to snowy Detroit, never looked back and never ate lamb again :D

  3. I dont think I have ever had a fish run me out! , that must have been some fish you had. The cornish carp allways gave me 2 runs, the 2nd when they see the net!.

As for Devon being Gods country, well I dunno about that one... all ill say Is that there are two types of people in England.. The cornish and them who wish they were! :D

  4. "Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish! Not like going down to the pond and chasing bluegills and tommycocks. This Carp, swallow you whole. No shakin', no tenderizin'. Down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant!"

"You go in the cage. Cage goes in the water. You go in the water. Carps's in the water. Our Carp!"

  5. Mr fitzz,

Be forwarned. Every water in the US has 100 lb - 5 ft long carp. Just ask any local catfisherman, they'll tell you. One thing about angling in the US in general, it's OK to lie.

    Phone

Yeah What I never told you was that I saw that carp and jumped in and got on his back, of course after all the years that carp was now 8ft and at a guess ill say around 1200lbs (give or take 20lbs) after aweek of fighting him and him dragging me to the bottom about 6 times, I had to let go because I was getting hungry and it was time for supper. But ill be back and me and that fish will meet again.......... :D

  6. Its funny, I took my son for a walk by the Detroit river and I saw around 12 or so fishing, I talked to a hand full that told me there are carp but none fish for them, One guy told me that his dad hooked one that was over 5ft long!!

If it was England It would cost me to fish there, all the fishermen would be fishing for carp and I would be so many more of them..... Ah I love the US for your carp and Wendys bugers and dougtnuts!

  7. So Im just getting back into fishing after 5 years and I guess my question is more for the guys who moved here from the UK.

What are the differences in fishing for carp over here in the USA then back in the UK. Or is a carp a carp no matter where he is in the world?.
