Brian. I have cut my teeth on your videos over the years. They have been my go to when it comes to everything relating to catching carp. From how to tie a rig, to bait prep. I've spent hours watching and learning from you.

      Thank you

Glad you enjoy them! I have tried to offer carp fishing at all levels of experience and variety to the viewer. I never liked to say do this and that. I like to give a lot of variety so the angler could always choose how they wanted to fish. I just like to show the details to make it work better and of course explain it fully. Glad it has helped you out and lots more videos to come!

  2. This came up before when I was first becoming a director. I am sponsored by Korda. The thing that was brought up is the sponsors here sell Korda so did not feel it was an issue. I myself am non bias of others and their postings as well so it is not like I delete other sponsor ads or anything crazy like that. Also something to consider, Anytime someone posts up a recipe with say a brand of oats or grits should they not be a sponsor as well?  Guess it is hard to draw the line. I have always added my videos to the site well before I was sponsored going back 10 years ago since I have been a member that long. So same type of video but because I am sponsored it is not ok now?

Anything I can bring to help out?

I plan on getting there @ 6:30 am Saturday (which means I probably won't get there until 8:00  - should take @ 2 hrs from Pittsburgh) - let me know..........

Bill, give you a call later. Right now we still need roughly 24 hamburger buns, 24 hot dog buns, condiments and charcoal. We are expecting over 30 anglers from over 9 states.

On June 25th at Prince Gallitzin State Park we are having a carp fishing social event from sunrise till sunset. This is a catch and release only event and it is a great way to meet other anglers and learn about catching carp. Everyone is welcome to attend.

We will be meeting up at the Pickerel Pond area directly in front of the bathroom. There is tons of room for parking and also a very large amount of bank space for all anglers.

You are allowed to use shelters but they have to be taken down before night time. You are allowed to cook food and there are grills on site to do so as well.

Picnic tables are in abundance and can be moved to accommodate you.

Please keep the area you are fishing in clean as we will do a cleanup during and at the end of the event.

Maybe its just  a mistake it happens i would think. Maybe he thought he weighed it in kg so 20kg to 40lb

When it might of been 20lb? Its a nice fish. Weight wise Im not sure....

I have seen many tall people 6ft + that make a 50lb buff look high 20lb.

Sometimes the pic makes it look a lot smaller we should know soon.

Please post pics of your fish if possible anyone fishing the big 4. didn't want to make thread about calling people out. But i see some points. Forum=open discussion

Even though I can see some anglers concern I have had some big fish that were very very wide and from the front look small. He is a long time CAG member and I think I have been to the place where he caught them from years ago. I could see those fish being legit no doubt if it is where I am thinking it is from.

  6. I will add this also. Everyone has the choice to choose how they want to fish. I prefer euro methods but at the end of the day I always encourage anyone who likes carp. The more anglers who get into the sport no matter the style of fishing the better.

With that said even though I may target a lot of big fish it is not all about that. I love to go for numbers some days and will have a really fun time catching fish after fish even if under 10lbs. I just love carp fishing in general. If your state you feel does not have huge carp I would say make the best out of the situation. My famous line I always tell people especially since I came from a bass fishing background is my smallest carp on any given day will be bigger than my biggest bass I will ever catch. For the catch and release angler I always say why not target the biggest fish in the lake as most anglers goals are to catch the biggest fish they can.

  7. Very true at the end of the day like James said fishing is supposed to be fun. I know on my youtube channel I always try to show a variety of things. I think the angler should decide what they want to try as it makes it fun and allows you to be in control of your own fishing as well. I have helped a lot of anglers and sometimes the smallest adjustments can make a huge difference from not catching to catching.

Some of you will have fished with me and know that I fish "different". That difference is because I essentially fished for anything with fins and did not specifically target carp. Joining CAG  was a whim on my part and I hoped to become more proficient at catching carp...especially bigger carp. So about 18 months in, what has happened? Well there was no real change up until late summer 2015...and now I go fishing with boilies, hair rigs et cetera. I used to use "normal" groundbait, but now I use "method mix" with carp attractants. I even have bought an actual carp rod! You can even find me fishing with flavored plastic corn on a hair rig! What you wont find me using is bite alarms, buzzer bars et cetera- these are for those that sleep on the job!

And what is the effect of this more serious approach? I will tell you what it  is... a 75% decrease in the number of double figure carp landed in the first 3 months of 2016 as compared to the first 3 months of 2015 and an 80% decrease from the same months of 2014! Since I joined CAG I have not landed a "twenty" in Georgia!

Welcome to CAG. I will say there are a ton of variables in carp and going from one technique to another greatly increases those variables. Can you break down a typical session that you do? From beginning to catching fish? I know it may take some typing but maybe I can suggest some things. Also have you caught 20s before and are no longer catching 20lb fish?  I know you do not want to use alarms but I used to be the same way believe it or not. I loved watching the lines for subtle bites and one day I tried an alarm and realized even though I thought I had my eyes glued to the line my alarms were alerting me of quick bites I was missing out on.

I would like to see a picture of your hair rig and also with the bait on it. A lot of times simple changes to this can make a HUGE difference. Also lead setup and so on. I will say CAG is about fishing for carp any way you want to. Even though a lot fish the way you are describing it really comes down to personal choice. I used to fish very basic and switched over. I had the same issues at first and once I fine tuned what I was doing I then noticed a large increase. There are various ways also to fish for big fish, numbers and so on. There really isnt a best of all worlds and various baiting and baits will dictate what types of fish you end up getting as well. I would be more than happy to work with you some to see if we can improve your fishing while not going overboard. Also what is in your method mixes now?

So, what to do? Take the CAG stickers off my car? Put the carp rod back in its rod bag  and  pretend I never bought it? Resign from CAG? Or...or what? Blame El Nino?

    I am open to suggestions!

One of my very few doubles of 2016!

  9. From what I have gathered looking down at the fish instead of the camera is more a sign of respect for the fish and also puts the focus on the fish. I asked this many years ago and also do this as well. Also I have had plenty of photos with big ear to ear grins. At the end of the day it is up to the angler and how they want to look in that photo. At least you now have an idea for why they are looking at the fish.

  11. The n-trap is usually just fine with creating friction from your fingers against the line. It takes a few times but will straighten. A lot of times I make rigs before hand and if you have them in a rig wallet straight they will be perfect when you go to use them.
