  1. July Carp of the Month Winner is announced! This was a very very close match for the winner. After some thought we award the carp of the month to Mike Hudak with this stunning koi post-2370-0-44482600-1439785269.jpg

  2. Welcome to the forum. I used to not use bite alarms when I first started but soon found out how many small runs or bites I was missing without them. They are also great for catfish and other species as well. There is a good variety of alarms out there for a good price. http://www.bigcarptackle.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?cat=44&q=bite+alarm You will need a bank stick as well and they are all universal or you can drill a small hole into your pod and screw them into it.

I would get some sort of small mat. Keep it wet as well because it keeps the slime on the fish which helps prevent diseases and also is a soft padding so as the fish flops it will not harm it. http://www.bigcarptackle.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=mat

In all honesty I would just focus on catching at the moment. The above two especially the alarms will help. The alarms if you are getting beeps and beeps your hook may be dull or tangled so it alerts you of that also. A mat is just good care for the fish and you can find one for a decent price. Everything else comes in time. I have a bunch of how to videos on my youtube channel for baits and such. Look of oatmeal pack bait on my channel below in my sig and that is an effective easy bait to use that is cost effective to get you started. Hope this helps.

  3. Lots of trial and error trust me! Your spring spot is just that a spring spot. Fish move in for the spawn to specific areas so if you did great there once the spawn is over a few may hang around but 95% of them move back to the location they came from. It took me about 4 years to find the "summer" area where a majority of the big ones go on the one lake I fish. Look for signs of food in abundance in the water. Certain areas will contain more than others. Go out at night if you can to observe. I sat in spots for hours just waiting to hear or see signs. the one summer I sat out 3-4 hours until the fish came in and started crashing hard on this one spot. It appeared to be a natural feeding area and has worked well since. The other thing to keep in mind is there is not a lot of natural food in the spring whereas summer you have an insane amount so it is hard to compete with that sometimes. I use more bait in the summer months because other fish will eat it also like bluegill, perch and so on. Just keep trying and you will be rewarded eventually. I also look for spots with drop offs and a little deeper in the summer as well.

  4. June Winner Announced! Sorry for the delay on this one. Adam Cieplik is our winner with this massive common. This is the unofficial state record as well for Pennsylvania which was released to be caught another day. Great job!

  5. I love your videos about fishing tactics and tips. Less so much the Delkim run videos. Why do you need to rub in my face your awesome bite alarms :(Glad

Glad you enjoy the videos. I am working on a lot more now. Keep in mind I have been doing this for a while now so it has taken many years of saving for the TX-I alarms. I will say this though those will be the alarm company I use till I am in the ground. I love everything they do.
