Thats a mighty fine turkey you got there Scott!

Happy Thanksgiving Captain and everyone else. I am ready to chow down!

JUst a guess but the rig tubing should pin it to the bottom making it more invisible since its pinned down where as yoru braids and other lines often have a tendancy to float some so when a fish comes near the boat he may be tapped by the line because its possible its not laying on the bottom. Just a thought.

Very true I caught a few that were around 33 inches and 25lbs but look the same in a photo as one I cuaght that was 17lbs. My average fish is 34-37inches.

After reading Jakes thread I felt I should have a thread to thank everyone for helping me out this year. I had an awesome time and got to meet a ton of people and talked to a lot of new people about carp fishing.Special thanks goes out to Karl at scorpion tackle for helping me out and great prices along with big carp tackle as well. Can't forget my carpin buddy Carl who spent many days fishing with me this year and everyone from PA and surrounding areas that I got to meet during the year and hope to meet more next year. This year was special for me because this was my first offical year of carpin and my dad would be proud of my accomplishments this year.My father would take me carp fishing when I was very young but most of those spots are private property and we could not fish as I got older. He would tell me about him fishing at a paylake called tomers back when he was younger. I was too little to try back then and as I got bigger his regular spots were not fishable and we never did good locally. I found cag last fall and learned various techniques and have caught pretty good for my first year and still a ton of room to learn. My father passed away 2 years ago and i know he is watching over me and I am sure he would have loved to see some of these monsters that I have caught this year. Below are a few highlights of my catches. I caught over 39 this year. I didn't keep count of them all. I caught up to 30lb 15oz for my largest and even had a 3 mirrors this year as well. I think my season is about done and I will be working a lot more to save up for some things so looking forward to meeting a lot of you next season out and about.

After watching a school of carp move through my are one day and watch them feed you will think twice. This was when I first started early in the year and was always scared of adding too much to the water. I had chummed out 4 cans of corn and when the school came in it was gone within 2 minutes if that. They sucked the bottom dry and moved on.Each session I fish now depending on how long I stay I chum 2.5 to 10 gallons of chum out. If this is a swim you fish a lot I would chum a lot out prior to fishing it and when you go to fish chum some out right before fishing then a spod out every 30-40 minutes while fishing.Karl I remember you saying before when you would go out on a boat and chum 100lbs that when you look down that it would spread so far that it was like a drop in the bucket. You have to realize when its in your bucket on the bank it sure looks like a ton but once baited out it spreads and current moves it and so on. If I were you try various chums to see what works best for you. I have used corn and method and the method has held them in my area better than the corn.

Looks like you guys had a good time out. He will be excited to see a big carp next time out. I see you are training him to carry your gear as well. lol How long did you guys end up fishing for then since it looked kinda cold.

Maybe if we could find a swim where the mirror has some back problems it would be more likely to be caught by him. Maybe use a special reallignment bait. lol ok I will stop before I get my cag card revoked. lol

Since I keep forgetting to take pics of our homemade pod I cropped some photos so you can get an idea. I will take some good ones monday or tuesday.Mines a little different from carl's but you can make them any way you want to your likings. I have metal rods in mine for weight to hold it down in water.
-
Great looking buffs. That first one looks excellent. Congrats on the pb

LOL you mean my lobster friend? lol We were in the sun all day and he got it the worse as you can see. Of course he had sunglasses on too. I havent tried backleads but in this situation it would not have helped. THis guy was 10 feet from my pole! Both times this happened. I will take pics hopefully tomorrow of the pod. It started to get dark so hopefully tomorrow I can do this for everyone to see.
-
sure I will set mine up tomorrow and get some pics for you. We both have ours made very similiar but mine was a little different so I can place it in the water since my bank space is limited. Total cost is roughly 10-15 to build.Carl showed me his one day and I just built mine last week and its working well for me.
NO THIRTIES TODAY, HOW ABOUT SOME 29'S FROM THE MARGINS
