Also one other very important thing to me is a few months before he passed away he made the comment all these will be yours meaning his rods and gear so even though they are older than most I fish with my dads abu garcia rods and abu garcia mitchell 300 reels and they can handle the monsters pretty well so far. lol And I can't forget the huge net that has an opening 38inches long that both me and Adam have been using very much.

Well I joined a few months ago and saw this section so here is my story. I am 28 years old and have fished for as long as I can remember.I fish for bass.carp.catfish,pike and really anything else since I love the outdoors. Just sitting there relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
My story begins with my dad who introduced me to not only carp fishing but all other kinds of fishing as well. Carp fishing does stand out because when I was young we would go to bedford,pa and fish the juniata. I would fish for smaller fish since the carp in there would pull me in easily. He would catch 30+inch carp all day on his dough ball recipe.I remember waking up and him showing me how he made his dough everytime before we would go fishing. The drive was about an hour so we would talk about the usual things and he would tell me of stories of his dad and and great grandfather who also carp fished. I wil get some old pics when I can find some.We would go all the time but then people started posting that no fishing or parking so almost 99% of our spots were unfishable now then we would try new spots with no luck so it was frustrating. Now being little he was scared the fish would pull me in due to there size since he would catch mostly large ones. I remember finally the day when He let me carp fish and I had my first run.It shot out so fast and I had 20lb test on and it snapped my line fighting it and it was a monster. The line sounded like a gun shot going off when it broke. After that day that spot was posted as well and we fished but blanked so we really got into catfish. My dad passed away about a year and a half ago and I mostly fished for bass because it was hard to sit in a spot without my dad with me. It actually took about a year before I could do that again. Bass fishing never bothered me since I was constantly moving but finally this year I set out on my carp mission to learn a lot and have a lot of fun doing it and getting back into the swing of things. I have met a lot of people so far which is fun and have introduced carp fishing to my friend Adam which caught a 37incher and it was 30.5lbs. I know my dad would be proud of how many carp I have already caught and the size and he would be having a good time as well like I am. I know he is watching down on me and I hope to teach as many people as I can of carp fishing and how much fun it is to do.I hope to in my legacy introduce carp fishing to many people and hopefully set up a carp meet on my dam once I get a really consistent spot. Adam caught another 25lber tonight so apparently his bait is magic. lol I have been fishless for 5 days now. We tried that new spot tonight and there is a lot of activity but out old spot seems easier to fish.I work 9-5 all week and thursday 11-7.. smallest weight was 18.6lbs so far.

Had a couple runs on your strawberry. I tried making pineapple too to see what would happen and no hits on those. They have been kinda slow the past few days. I have blanked for 3 days now with only a few runs. Adam caught another 30ish fish tonight that was 19.8lbs. Once I get a good day to fish for a while I want to experiment with the boilies out here some more. I did buy a spod and slingshot and they have been very effective at getting the fish to come in. I think both of us are coming down saturday to the meet so we can all hang out and I was gonna say once we get a little more consistency at the dam we shold have a little bbq or something goin. The smallest ones we are catching are 31inches and 18lbs. Getting together would be cool with me. We can either come down or if you want to try the dam or even somerset lake. I do decent at the dam so maybe we can try there.I have a few other spots there I want to try there that have held some massive carp in the past.

Heres some of todays haul. The one in the net on the ground is mine. It was actually 33inches and Adams 35incher. Adam Robin must have her pics on her camera. She caught her first carp today and it was 34 inches and 16.8 lbs. lol not bad at all. Thanks to everyone who has been giving me pointers to help make this day possible. We are all going again tomorrow so I am hoping to bring home some more monster pics. The smallest one caught at this spot is 31 inches so far.

I will post up a few pics later too. Keep in mind he is holding the carp against himself so its actually that big. We have been chumming the spot for roughly 2 weeks and this morning I caught 2 which were 31 and 32 inches.Its been exciting!

Well I found the forum in november and joined about a month ago now and became a cag member. I am up to my fourth carp now and caught my biggest being 29-30 inches. From the time I have joined I have seriously learned so much more than I could have ever imagined. I live near a dam where catching a carp was non existent to anyone. I think I am seriously the first person to catch one from here. Carl can attest to how bad this dam is for fishing and after learning everything here I have a great spot where I have carp feeding every day now. The membership was great. You get a packet with a a variety of articles and info and some products like a hair rig and a few boiles and some other items. The discount alone saved me $9 from big carp tackle so seriously the subscription in all honesty is like buying a magazine. If you see the price of 25 and even hestitate don't. You place one order than the price of the free items you get and its pretty muched payed for. I haven't been here long but everyone is more than helpful and friendly and I have met a few friends already that I will be fishing with. Just wanted to give some words of praise to anyone thinking or hesitating about getting a membership.

Awesome. Now you can fish your home lake more often. Thats the same scenario with me. I love my home lake but going places like shawnee for me which is 50 minutes away you always see people catching a ton more. Who knows maybe after the spawn it will pick up for you too and you will get some more regularly.
