  1. It would be nice if the official image could be released around 8 pm or earlier on March 31 for those of us who will be getting to bed early and fishing the next morning.

I believe Brad is the one who is handling that part of it. I also think they are going to add a rule where you have to add your invoice number to the sheet since we are keeping registration open for a month to avoid anyone cheating. I will try to find you an answer asap.

    The Logo

The 2015 Big 4 Logo will be attached for download below as PNG and PDF on April 30.

You are required to submit 1 photo of each fish you catch along with it's weight. This photo MUST show the angler holding the fish, a printed 2015 Big 4 logo, and your scale.

Remember, the star of these photos is you with your fish. Your photo may end up in a magazine! The logo and scale just need to be there somewhere to prove you have them. They can be anywhere in the photo as long as they are identifiable. The best way to manage this is to tape the logo to your scale:

The Big 4 Logo is only 3.75 x 2.75." This is the size of many state/provincial fishing and hunting licenses. You can Also put your logo in a standard license holder from any tackle shop, and pin it on your clothes, or even your unhooking mat.

Just try not to put the logo in your mouth, that's not going to look good in a magazine!

  3. As CAG members one of the biggest parts of CAG is getting to fish with others. Sometimes not everyone can attend an event and the Big 4 is something that we can all enjoy. After consideration in the BOD forum we have decided to start a 2 month Big 4 this year. The goal is to allow more time for anglers to get more fish onto the board and showcase the fish we love to catch. Also not everyone can get out fishing all the time so for the anglers who may only fish once a month this will allow for a better chance to catch more than previous years.

Signups will now be available through the month of april instead of only a few days before the start. This will allow anyone who may not frequent the forums to have a better chance for sign up. Also this is a great way to also get new CAG members to join the club. By being a CAG member you can compete in any of the events and this one is very user friendly since you do not have to travel to do so. The cost will be $10 like all of the other Big 4 events and prizes will be announced as soon as we confirm them all. Thank you all for participating and this is a great CAG fundraiser as well with so many anglers competing in this event.

  4. I would pick a few areas that look promising and chum some bait in. If you fish it regular you will start to see fish move into the areas. Under the bridge would be a great spot to target as fish always hold there or even overhanging trees. Since you came from a bass background they will position themselves just like bass. Look for drop offs, structure and other features like this. Its really just like bass fishing only they feed differently.

  5. I have had this various discussion with a lot of fishery departments as well as bow guys I know. The biggest issue with carp is the 30lb fish are 20-40 years old. To get a trophy trout it takes 6 years along with various other species. You can get a trophy fish in a lot less time so wiping out the largest fish over time will have a great impact on overpopulating a lake. It does not happen overnight but I have seen a lot of lakes that the numbers increase and the size decrease. You will also begin to see a size decrease in the other predator fish as well such as bass and pike. Carp are primary food source right after the spawn. A single carp has millions of eggs and this becomes a main food source for them from egg to fry to small fish in the growth cycle.

For me we have big bass waters here and to be smart about this if trophy waters were to come about I would elect it happen on those lakes because you have a consistent balance of trophy predators that will maintain the balance of carp. If you have it on any lake there are no boundaries for taking predators so the potential to overpopulate could happen due to too many predators being taken that would sustain the carp population.

The other thing to remember is carp have been here a very long time. They are not native like 70% of the other species in lakes such as bass, pike and various species of fish. The only difference is dollar signs that makes it ok for the other fish to be there regardless of what damage they may do to native fish. Carp can be blamed for anything because no one is there to defend against them.

  6. Please congratulate SoCarCarper Christian Torres with this beautiful ghostie caught during the ATC. You have won a $100 Voucher to Big Carp Tackle and also a 1 year CAG Membership. post-2370-0-38811700-1425410947.jpg

I would also like to say from a personal standpoint that I really enjoyed watching both you and Cesar during the ATC. I only was able to talk to you briefly since things were so busy but really enjoyed your love for the sport and sportsmanship towards others. Great job!

  7. Brian, can you do another video on the Mielie bombs but using corn flour to help it bind if we are making it the night before and what to do? Like if we have to leave some water in the grounded maize, the break down time , how much of each ingredient etc.

I will add it to my list Alex, Just a little behind on requests but will get to it as soon as I get caught up on the others. Will get to it as soon as I can.
