  1. 45+ Lbs thats nothing, one time when I was watching these guys spear fish down in the Amazon... :D

Who am I kidding that is freaking huge way to go wish i could of been there and congrats to all of the winners.

  2. Dang, remind me to never piss off any of you die hard falthead guys :D

That is one species I would love to get into, maybe this year. I was talking to some guys who hit the big M around Zanesville, that gave me a few good ideas. There is a spot around there my brother in law and I hit from time to time in hopes of flathead, but i realize now that they do not hit on liver. This should be a prime spot, abandoned bridge right by the mouth of a feeder creek, over half of the water is blocked with tree's and limbs, don't see to many people down there but we have done very well on channels, with some good C & R's and also a lot of good table fare channels (yes channels between 14 inches and up to 5 Lbs qualify as table fare for me sorry if I offend anybody). I only target certain species to eat and channels are the only member of the catfish family on that list.

Anyways I am going to have to hit that spot again this year, I know if you take a boat farther up that feeder creek, you hit a prime rock bass area you can load up on bait at. Then you can spend the rest of the day carping, and then in the past we headed out in the main river by a dam (Y street) and tried to fish a hole for flatheads, now i beleive we need to stay in that spot by the fallen timber. Live and learn, this may be the year I break my Flathead curse.

  3. Mnfisherman, ther are leathers in the US all though I beleive they are pretty rare. I remember catching a small one up on the Pymatuning on the Ohio side. I didn't quite know what it was at the time but it sure was pretty ugly in my eyes. One of its eyes was all pussed out making for a rather interesting deformed scaless fish, I wasn't even sure if it was a carp at the time unitl I looked it up on the internet. I am pretty sure my neice had nightmares about that fish for a night or two.

  4. Cool its Popeye The Carp. I am one of those guys who doessn't own a decent landing net or a landing mat but I normally try to be very careful with the fish. Up to this year I just let them go without even taking them out of the water, that was a whole lot less work then netting them. I would wager that most of those wounds are older and using anti-septic wouldn't of mattered. That is one tough fish and judging from the fact it was caught again trying to eat I think it has prefectly adapted to having only one eye and a hole in its side it will probably be caught again in the future.

  5. Sorry about that carpaholic, I didn't think about that will do in the future. By the way Miquel incredible, that carp looks like a bullet all muscle I bet that was a good fight. I can't wait until I break the 30 Lb mark I just think I am going to have to up the tackle a little bit especially when fishing in heavy current.

  6. It is kind of an inside joke on the GFO boards. Everyone gets on there and post to thier friends stuff like I will meet you at that place we normally go, or the Lake eastside and stuff like that to protect thier waters from other anglers. So we gave this place a nickname all though most of the people in the area have a good idea where it is at but might not know exacly where we are fishing. We are going to start posting picture clues to see who can find "Lake CFD" first, it probably doesn't carry over to this board too well though.

  7. All right I didn't notice this forum before I posted the Pics and stories in the Ohio Valley section. Granted this is not as impressive as the 30 Lber (Nice Fish) but it is my new PB that I got 08/09/03 and I am proud of it. The background had been modified to protect the location, the story and more pictures including an 18 and 20 Lber are on display in the Ohio Valley under the two posts relating to lake CFD. It is a 25 Lb Mirror, a real fat fish caught in the Ohio area over the weekend from a swim that has been giving up 20 Lb+ fish every time we go there. That 30 Lber is coming any day now.

  8. Welcome aboard fishinchick glad to see you joined. This board had been a wealth of info to me already and as far as baits go, as long as you hang around Tpet I don't think you have to worry about making Boilees too soon. I guess I am always good for some doughbaits and chick peas as well, I will see you bankside:)
