    a chod rif is similar to a helicopter rig.

    the idea is to fish a bouyant bait up ie, popup, above the silt. dependant on how loose the silt is determines how far the rig is from the lead.

    it is very easy to make, almost identical to a helicopter rig.

    personally i use lead core leader, but you can use a mono leader. you cant just use mainline, you definately need a leader, normally about 3-4foot long.

    you splice the leader at both ends, one to attach the lead and one to the mainline, you then use a helicopter type bead, one each side of the rig to set it at its needed depth.

    or an easier option is to buy them ready made if you are not sure. Korda make the leaders readymade so all you need is a rig and your mainline. they only a couple of quid in tackle shops.
