  1. I'm sorry to announce that my friend and our fellow carp fisherman Franklin Laws has passed in Florida.

He had a heart attack recently and so as to not bother any one, he drove himself to the hospital at 1:00 am.

There is no address for flowers or remembrances.

If he would ask for anything it would be that Neil would FINALLY catch a mirror AND a koi just to prove it could be done.

  3. I have to agree with JHPHILLY. Nash, is supposed to be top of the line. If it breaks they should replace it. No more conversation should be needed.

I have a pair of Nash Dwarf. Like them VERY much. That said, the end of one rod came slightly 'bent' but the rod fishes OK. If it breaks I will expect an immediate replacement due to their name.

If not, I will go back to Chubb, if it isn't too late. They ALWAYS stood behind their products.

  4. It is a virus. I had it. It took THREE programs to remove it and then another to check that my system was clean.

Current McAfee and other programs will NOT remove it.

I'll do a bit of browsing and see if i can again find where I got the info to remove it. It wasn't hard, but time consuming to run the programs.

EDIT: follow this link for remove the virus. It's free.

  5. Mark is the man :)

    Gotta agree with Neil.

Mark is the man who attends but doesn't catch.

Mark is the man who attends and because he doesn't catch he tries to teach.

Mark is the man who attends and because he doesn't catch he tries to teach and because he can't, he parts with some of his $$$.

Yep, my hat is off to him.

(However, I will keep a firm grip on it.)

  6. Well I've never been to an "ATC". So far as I know, I've never fished with anyone who has. If I have they sure didn't feel as if they had to inform me they had done so, so I guess it isn't a big deal.

The Subject mentions trashing the participants and yet I see no names that will even acknowledge they have signed up.

But, let's get back to the "ATC". I've been on this forum for a few years, but (so far as I remember) it is simply the ATC. Is this some Texans who used to fish for All Texan Crappies and were only able to land carp? If this was some type of real important event I think it would have a name instead of some cockamamie letters like ATC.

I've noticed over the years they have same Hooters gals at the pre-tournament corn boil. (HINT: Get some Hooters gals with HOOTERS and under 50 years old.)

Then there is the matter of a corn boil. Am I the only one who has noticed the age of the participants has gotten older and have a habit of scrapping the kernels off before eating as their dentures keep coming loose?

I've noticed a lot of talk about which peg is better than so and so peg. Folks, get with the times. How about a map of the pegs showing which ones have free unsecured wi-fi or at least how many bars a participant can expect.

BTW 50+ age Hooter gals might not be outstanding eye candy at the corn boil, but if they were granted a free entry and a central peg they just might be a reason for more publicity, due to inappropriate attire, of course.

The best thing I can say about the ATC is that it is closely associated with Neil Stern. I hold no truth to the rumor that he acquired his nickname of scuba doc due to his underwater activities attaching large carp onto Texan participants during past events.

I've never talked much about my service, but I retired from active duty as a member of the Texas Army Nation Guard. I spent 8 years in San Antonio, so when I say that if the event were held on the River Walk those long poles made in China, shipped to the UK and then on to Canada and finally into the USA wouldn't be needed. A simple line on a tin can would suffice and a lot more folks might sign up to fish.

Lastly, if Franklin were provided an all expenses paid entry and teamed with the Hooters gals there would probably even been regional TV coverage.

  7. Did you weigh that snapper in the sling and scale cause it doesn't look a 30 to me ;) Attitude surely adds at least 10 lbs on the bank while simutaneously decreasing angler weight and hoping they brought a change of undergarments.

No. Franklin lifted it and his judgement has proven pretty accurate over the years.

  8. Havent seen you in a bit , glad you're still around .

We have had to cut back to about 2-3 outings a week. Franklin is still hauling and I'm still watching him do it. NOTHING caught worth reporting other than the above angry character who stepped on my hook as he was working on my boilie.
