'Tis the season to be scary. So which member has the scariest avatar?
Here is my vote:

I won't name names, but the well known owner of this camera just may have been instrumental in organizing the recent SP Tournament at Spillmans.

I use 12' for cages/feeders, and love it. If you looking for a starter rod at a great price, go with the willow rod 2.75 or 3Lb TC. I have tried it, truthfully for the price, its awsome. Check out www.resistancetackle.com

I can echo what Daniel said and add that the Epixor 30s, although small, aren't too small. It just means that you might loose a bit of distance in your cast.

1. Nice. I would be happy with one half that size.
2. (tip) Go to a sewing goods shop and ask for a measuring tape. Cheap, small, vinyl (not metal tape) will work better than that yard stick and easy to store.

Were you using a cane pole?
Those fish do NOT appreciate finer fishing poles and tend to avoid them.

Ah , dang well at least it's not a common right?
I think you can answer your own question.
Not a Grass.
Not a Koi.
Not a Leather.
Not a Mirror.
So, the answer would be?????

You did better than me.
Went fishing.
Franklin said he caught one.
Went home.
Mowed yard.
End of story.

One of my friends from work is interested in getting his own rod for carp fishing. He didn't like the 12' rods I had, said they were too long and unwieldy for him He's looking for something in the 6-9' range that will handle the carp in our lakes. So I guess something that 'could' handle a 20-30lb carp if we're lucky Any advice ? he's kind of on a budget too so nothing over 100 bucks for sure. Would the ugly sticks be ok for this ? what do you think guys ?
thanks

TICA makes a very nice 7' spinning rod with a thin handle wrapped in cork tape. It worked just for my few 24+ carp.
You can get a pair for $100.

yes...the sympathy and concern just dripping from your pores
I'm starting to think all your yelling might have something to do with your lack of Mirror carp.......

I for one intend to correct my regrettable actions. So, as a CAG member and Delaware State Chair, I extend a personal invitation to all Texas chiropractors to get on a plane, fly to Baltimore or Philly, rent a car, join Franklin and I and use our proven pineapple boilies or piece of strawberry maize to fish for a Mirror Carp.
About that invitation. We only fish for Mirrors on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to noon when the temperature is above 65*, so plan your arrival accordingly.
We used to fish a bit earlier, but now that we have each caught a Mirror, we don't need to fish as hard. I'm sure all interested parties understand.

• Gain acceptance of the (Mirror) carp as an exciting and challenging catchable sportfish.
• Become better (Mirror) carp anglers, assist a Texan and encourage him to join us.
• Treat the (Mirror) carp with respect. Promote the release of trophy-size (Mirror) carp. Encourage a Texan to properly fish for them.
• Most of all: go (Mirror) fishing, share with a Texan, and have fun!
I'm pretty new to the CAG Forum, but in my short time here it has become obvious to me that not all or our members, who have caught a Mirror carp, are following the spirit of the CAG goals.
How many of you have caught a Mirror carp and didn't post the bait used?
How many of you have caught a Mirror carp and simply posted a picture, without encouraging others to go out and catch one and post a photograph of it here for all to enjoy?
How many of you have caught a Mirror carp and didn't invite those who haven't to your swim for an opportunity to catch your leftovers?
The answer is too many. Therefore, I propose that each and every CAG member who has caught a Mirror carp make a post to help those less fortunate members who may be Mirrorless.
I know it will be tough to disclose your most intimate Mirror carp catching secrets, but CAG is like a family. Those enthusiastic members who just don't seem to have the prerequisite skill set to catch a Mirror carp may be in need of a 'family' intervention.
So, in the future, if you catch a Mirror carp let me know and I'll give you the name of a beloved member of our forum from Texas who is seemingly in need of assistance in catching his first ever Mirror carp. I'll then give you his name so that you may PM him your personal Mirror carp catching secrets and a friendly word of encouragement.

If any feel I have forgotten anything important to this thread, please feel free to add to it. :D

Yep, excellent way to spend a bit of extra cash.
I bought one of each color. (Now I know my corn is in the yellow one.)

The difference between a carp fisherman and a golfer.
The golfer has a shorter lightning rod than the carp fisherman, but he grounds himself better with spikes.
(Although, some of the newer golfers are getting smarter about not wearing spikes to ground themselves in thunderstorms.)

Carphd: Pm sent
If you would be so kind, send me the same PM (All pack bait secrets are safe with me. Dog won't tell either.)

http://www.imagecave.com is a site that hosts (stores) images for the user (you).
Then you can provide links (like I did above to imagecave.com) so that folks can click to see your pictures one at a time.
If you want to go PM I'll be glad to assist.

You really don't need an alarm.
Rod holder is probably the most important item, so that your rod can't be pulled into the water.
Assuming you are using a spinning reel, put a rubberband on the handle in front of the bail. Put a loop of line under the rubber band. Open your bail. On the line in front of the tip of your pole you can put something to indicate a run. Some use a piece of dough. A piece of Styrofoam works well. My favorite was 1/3 of a pipe cleaner. Bent into a "W" and pinched onto the line.

I thought I was a fisherman when I was your age, but I can tell you that I knew nothing compared to what you already know and practice.

Beautiful fish.
Just a reminder that your son made it possible....
Maybe a trip to Dairy Queen or McD ?

You didn't like it?
The carp has a bigger smile than you..

I was notified via email and checked it out at the above site.
Seems like another reason I like eating there.
