  1. About 30 years ago, while stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, TX, I used to spend a lot of time carp fishing Calaveras Lake.

It wasn't unusual to catch 40+ small (3-5 llb) common carp during a nights fishing.

One Summer evening I has having a VERY good night when I was approached by a hispanic lady who asked if she could have the fish I was throwing back.

I agreed, after explaining they really weren't much good to eat, but she insisted that her husband would want them.

When I reeled in another I asked if she had a bucket or something to put it in. She replied no and asked that I simply put it in the trunk of her car.

About 8 hours and 80 or so carp later her trunk was full and she thanked me and left.

I've often wondered if her marriage survived after the car was in 100 degree heat for a couple of days.

    (I know mine wouldn't have. :D )

This was the same evening I saw one of the strangest sights I've ever seen.

While sitting near the edge of the lake it wasn't unusual to seek a water snake swimming the edge. However, when I saw two approaching from opposite directions and one simply opened its mouth and ate the other I was very surprised. I've never since heard or seen of it happening.
