  2. well, yesterday was a awesome day for me, iv been carp fishing since 2007, got started my going to a local fishin and seeing the others there with the gear, and i had to have it. since my first atc on 07, with mark iv had a pb of 29.7lbs. iv been putting in time at lbl and other lakes in search of bigger fish. although i do have 5 50lb buffalos under my belt, that 30 pound common is a tough one to get. so here is the story.

last week me and steve talked about where to fish at town, we decided on melrose swim, since my leg had a blister and i dont want to push it to hard(i wear a prosthetic). we met shortly after 6am and got to setting up. upon setting up i noticed white marker buoys, but it was still dark and couldnt tell how far they was out and where they was. after baiting up and settling in, mike (atxweeler) came down and chatted with us. he let us know a couple swims that was baited and where him and a few others was fishing. after thinking it over, steve and i agreed to move to the peninsula swim, since we did great there 2 weeks prior. we arive there around 10ish. got all setup and lines baited and started hunting for some shade hehe. we was seeing carp crash out above our lines so we was happy, we didnt see any of that at melrose. i guess it was a hour after we got setup steve gets a screaming run, steve runs and pics up the rod, i hear the drag clicking away, i thought oh yea its a good one maybe a high 20. after a battle and dealing with the weeds and floating crap out in the water, i net it for him, with 20lbs of weeds in the net and the fish too felt 30 haha, but it was a 24Thepeninsula002.jpg

later on i guess it was a hour later and the sun was hot and out shade was going away, and it was getting close to 3pm. and we knew like last time it was gonna go crazy but didnt know when, about that time i get a slow steady run, at first i thought trash on my line, but when i picked up the rod (3.0 tc) this fish just kept pulling and pulling. i couldnt stop it, i pulled hard and this fish wasent having it, now im guessing this is a big fish, maybe a big buff, maybe my 30, or maybe they have the current running and its a teemer in it. seeing the fish take a hard left and thats a bad sign there, i ran to the right side of the swim, pulling all i could, nothen, the fish was still pulling drag and i know i was in trouble if i didnt get the line out from the over hanging tree. i run to the point and get the rod under the tree, the line is buried in the tree. i saw a guy in a kayak, i waved him over, asked him to take my rod around the tree and hand it to steve, i loodend the drag and its peeling off still at this point, the guy gets it around the tree, after several breath taking runs i thought for sure its going in the lake. but the guy got it, and steve handed me the rod back, and im back in the fight. i see the fish about 20 yards out, buried in the weeds, and also wrapped up in steves 3 lines too. i tried to pull but couldnt. the guy in the yak takes steves lines and pulls them so i can gain a few feet, steve streaches the net as far as he can and shimmys it under the fish and pulls it in. at this point we have like 30 people watching us and ooooing and awwing. we take a breather for a minute since its in the net. so now that we got it, steve carrys it over to the scale and mat. i grab the water and we wash it and clean the weeds off. steve says MAN THATS A 30. i said idk man, might be another 29. we weigh it and the scales go past 30. i hit the moon, i started yelling yea man. it was 31.14. i was soo happy, been four years trying to get me a 30 and there it is on the mat, in front of me. what a beast. after alot of pics we set it free and it slowly swimmed away back to the deapths. after that fish, it picked up, steve got a high double this fish was long and thick. the tail was bigger than the fish after weighing it it was 27-8. after that fish, we had a double, and then i got one i wanted to take a pic, but my hands was wet and i couldnt hold on to the camera and dropped it in the lake. not wanting to lose it i went in after it, found it after a few minutes of searching. thank god the sd card is good. well, imma end this story, i could keep on and write more but imma let the pics tell the rest.

    my 31-14

  3. yesterday i met a friend at a swim we wanted to fish only to find that the local boating club hadn't picked up there marker buoys, so we decided to go to his favorite place. after getting setup and casting one short, one medium, and one long, i baited up each one with a few method balls, then sat down and waited. after a while my friend gets bored and decided to go to the store, while he was gone, i get a run which turns out to be a 14.4. so now I'm happy, i didn't blank. that fish was on my long range pineapple ice cream boilie. so i recast it out and reset everything, a few minutes later my friend shows up with drinks and chips. i tell him i got a fish and he was happy. after resetting the rod we sat down and starting chatting. about a hour into us chatting my middle rod screams off, after a short battle we get it netted and come to find out its the same fish. at first i didn't think it was, but it had a little spot on its face. i thought how cool but weird at the same time haha. after resetting that rod back out, it was a long wait for the next fish. my lond distance rod screams off, i pick the rod up and i could tell it was a nice fish, i have 3.50tc rods, and this fish was a freight train, he took a hard left for the trees and i thought for shure i was gonna lost him, i put all i had on this fish, i was either gonna pop the hook or get it turned. i pulled hard as i could, but the fish just wasn't turning, i could clearly see the line in the trees, i told my friend to get some method balls and throw at the trees, to try and scare it out, it worked!!! the fish came out and ripped more drag. after a long battle and getting it worn out we landed it. this fish was only 20lbs, but fought like a 50lb buff. all in all it was a nice day, i landed 3 fish, my buddy blanked. i bet he is there now cleaning up after me hauling fish haha.

  4. i hear that if your usuing a reel thats filled with braid that you should dip the spool in water to get the braid wet, that will help keep from getting wind knots. idk as i dont use braid and i dont use a spod. im a all method guy.

  5. today i joined my good buddy jesse and met a new guy at whiterock here in dallas, we was sitting around the table chatting when my left rod tore off, i new it was a good fish/ after a tense battle to keep it away from the weeds and peir i landed it in the net, and saw that it was a good one, so i went and got my scale. i was shocked it went to 20. right on the nose. not to bad after a 5 hour wait.
