  1. Just moved to Scottsdale and didn't know if there were any carpers in the area.

I don't see anybody fishing the urban waters (for carp) and I see this forum for AZ has been silent for well over a year.

Anybody still visit this forum? Anybody carp fish Scottsdale, Phoenix or Arizona as a whole?

  2. definitely a muddler pattern common Gary, looks like some mirror spooge might have got mixed up in the spawning mess somewhere.

I read an article way, way back that 95% of carp in the world are natural commons and left alone they would all eventually revert back to commons again without mans intervention.

Maybe the muddlers are a couple of generations into reverting back.

you do seem to catch more than your fair amount of them.....

  3. You don't need a marker float, a good sized lead and braided line is enough.

Pick a spot you know well and experiment, count the lead down on a tight line until it hits bottom to gauge the depth. drag it back to feel the bottom make up (big stones, shale, gravel, silt, weed etc all feel different)

Don't want to teach you to suck eggs if you already know this, but can expand further if you don't.

  4. your main spot is probably good because of the drop off into 7 feet, difficult to choose a 'plan B' unless you know the bottom make up there too.

You need to fish them and find another good drop off/channel that holds fish.

Everything looks fishy from the bank, the important stuff is underwater, get out there with a marker rod and find the spots or else it's just chuck and chance.

  5. Trouble is looks like the pony was hungry and decided to eat the NACA, tattered and torn is all I can say!!! :D :D (No worries though I have the e version)

That was going to be my question, does it come bagged as mine was just loose in the mail and consequently a few pages were torn, or did the mail man open it and read about Scott?

  6. I had the top of the range Fox RX digitals with the remote.

Notice the word 'had', 12 hour battery life in the cold.

I now have Delks TXi with the remote (battery life at least 12 months)

They're both the same sort of money (£120 to £125 each) so for a set of 3 plus the remote at close on $1000 bucks, you expect top quality.

The Delks are the best, by a long, long way.

  7. There's such a huge variation in 'Euro' carp shapes, but I'm assuming you're looking at the high shouldered ones, which are also called high backed Italian mirrors or Galicians, but there are also the Chanty carp (Chanty as in Chantecoq strain) These are known for their frame size, but lack of scales.

Royale carp have great scale patterns and high shoulders also and grow big.

Dinks (Dinkelsbuehl sp??) don't grow so big, but get to 30lb faster than most other strains.

The Redmire carp originated from the Galicians and then in the UK you also have the Sutton strain.

  8. Well done on the PB, I'm suprised it didn't fight too well, as the paddles and rudder look pretty large.

It's got great colouration with deep oranges around the tail, shame you couldn't stop the shine against the body as it would have made a superb shot.

    Well done again.
