I think I am going to give it a shot

surprisingly most of the carp fishing on the fly around here is at tailraces and clousers seems to be the ticket #2-6

my favorite blank was xmas eve fishing town lake with my son. It was nice just hanging out

That's such a wild fish. Coingrats man.
I think Koi breeders would call that a butterfly mirror.
I thought so too but if you look at the other pictures you can tell it is a common mirror-fantailed

Here is another picture I had taken with my phone of the Fantail Mirror Carp I caught yesterday with my Grand Slam
In case you missed my thread about my grand slam here is the link

I nine foot 6wt is good all around rod. If you know there are 20#+ in there go with an 8wt
-
very nice production man

Just got mine today and I am impressed. I've already read most of it and plan on reading the rest tonight during my night session

nice fish, love the picture of you holding a fish next to a no fishing sign

go with bass leaders and that tippet will work. On my 5 wt I use anywhere from 2x to 0x tippet depending on the structure in the water
-
yes you need backing. Go with 20lb dacron for your 6wt. The leader is what attaches to the end of your fly line and is tapered so it makes smooth loops. The tippet is connected to the leader and is basically a 12"-18" piece of mono or flourocarbon that gets broken off in case you get hung up and keeps you from trimming down the leader everytime you switch flies. For bass, redfish and carp go with a 6' or 7 1/2' tapered leader and 2x tippet.

Dustin, buy the cv2 line from bass pro, it is like 20-25$ and nice line for the price. Go with the 6wt line since it will be easier for you to cast on a 5/6 rod. like they said earlier, make sure it is wf-6 (weight forward 6 wt )

I just recently had a grand slam of a Koi, a common mirror butterfly, a ghost carp and a couple commons in a 3 hour period
