And then it went quiet. Temperatures plummeted and the wind picked up to almost unbearable strength. The whole lake just went quiet. Carp, "mojarra" and bass alike. Not a single fish was to be seen.

Until Friday morning when Ignacio caught his second fish ever. It was Lala, caught by Jose Luis in November last year, but now it had grown to an amazing 42lb 5oz. I just bought some new digital Reuben Heaton's from Dave and I couldn't believe when I read the screen: exactly the same as my new record.

Ignacio: you worked for this fish; you made your boilies, picked your spot, took the weather and you caught a monster! Felicidades cabron!

Yesterday morning, before packing, I managed another beautiful fish: 33lb 3oz. What a wonderful session to close the year. No more fishing for me until spring next year...
